Almost Awake

Misfortune is a Blessing

About Me

Once upon a time, on a cozy morning late in the month of August 2005, quality of life on Earth was made better. In a Brueggers Bagel Shop, following a night of Killer Bunnies, coffee at Bob's Diner, and a Downtown Albany stroll (during which the Hudson River was beautiful, for a change), Almost Awake was birthed. Casey J. Chapman (an already on-her-way establishment in the local music scene) and Dave Shaver (an unsettled percussionist, who happened to stroll past the Illium Cafe on just the right Tuesday evening) found themselves stuck together like peanut butter on a pumpernickel bagel, and loving every second of it. Almost Awake has a sound that will hypnotize audiences of all ages. Casey's soulful and emotional songwriting with an added touch of Dave's djembe work produces a chemistry that is hard to come across in the real world. Take all that, throw in some harmonies, and you've got something to bring on the road. Since joining forces, they've gotten off to a fast start, performing venues that range from small-time cafe's, to bustling bars, to fine dining restaurants. The band has completed their debut album (a live recording entitled 'TAP' that includes cuts from the Daily Grind, Flavour Cafe, and Caffe Lena) and have been working hard to produce a studio album. Details on its completion and release to follow.Coming from Mechanicville NY, Casey J. Chapman began singing at a young age and immediately found her groove. She has since been dazzling audiences with her vocal cords, emitting a beautiful glow that fills the room from first note to last. In addition to the guitar, she is also an accomplished piano player, and has even been known to pick up a bodhran or two in her time.A lifelong resident of Troy NY, Dave Shaver is no stranger to music. He's been studying percussion for the last 13 years of his 22 years of age, and has made listening to music just as much a part of him as performing it. After focusing mainly on drumset for most of his musical career, he has found new love in the djembe over the last several months and has been developing his skills to their fullest, finger-snapping his way into the hearts of his audiences. For more information about Almost Awake and what they are all about, feel free to browse the rest of their MySpace page or email them with questions/comments of all kinds at [email protected]. Also, don't be afraid to check out their website. It is still a work in progress, but can be found at www.almostawake.net.Peace and love to you all. Enjoy the music.
