The Bookdrop Bees

Homemade folky pop for rainy days.

About Me

Based in Troy, NY, the Bookdrop Bees rejected a few band names before settling on their current one. For example: Can you imagine them as Frankie the Skull? Or perhaps Sex Cologne? See what I mean? By the way, these guys are married. To each other. No, seriously. Is that lame? NUH-UH. In fact, they have yet to be described as "lame" even once. Rather, folks have remarked upon their live show as being tight, yet spontaneous. Those same folks have seen the Bookdrop Bees play at venues such as The Taproom at Brown's, Slow Jed's Mud House, the Flavour Cafe, Perfect Blend, Moon and River Cafe, Mahoney's Bar, Sugar (Tribeca, NYC), Beantown (Allendale, NJ), and many more in New York's lovely Capital Region.
The Bookdrop Bees are very excited to be a band, and if they could, would release a Choose Your Own Adventure... album.

AND on Rhapsody
Influences: Joni Mitchell, Phish, Wilco, Janis Joplin, Ani DiFranco, Ben Folds, Badly Drawn Boy, Counting Crows, Bob Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald
Sounds Like: Starkly confessional narratives filtered through the largely unnoticed details in the dense contexts of death, faltering relationships, jealousy, and unrequited affection. Shimmering and textured vocals glide atop angular acoustic rhythms. Sometimes tranquil, sometimes downright rocking, we have been compared to Fiona Apple, Joni Mitchell, and Aimee Mann.

Two short pieces of news: 1) The Bookdrop Bees will be making their first appearance on the airwaves (not counting my old radio shows at SUNY Cortland when we were plain old Ilan and Gemma). Thursd...
