Let's keep it simple folks!! I am an Actor/Comedian/Host/Writer or what they call in the industry "TALENT" LMAO!!
Troy “Ghost Host†Rawlings At a glanceA self-proclaimed “Entertainment Brat†Troy “Ghost Host†Rawlings is walking in his purpose. “I love people and I love seeing people enjoy themselves!†This is one of Troy’s key statements in life. Born Troy Lance Rawlings in Baltimore, Maryland, Troy was a comedian from the crib! By the age of three, Troy was impersonating his favorite singers and comedians. He loved watching performers like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Al Green to comedians and actors like Jerry Lewis, Abbot & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, Bob Hope, John Ritter, Bill Cosby and Sidney Portier. By age 5, Troy was break-dancing, rapping, singing and playing instruments. His intense love for the arts was evident to his parents but they didn’t know how to hone and control it; so they never put limits on his gift.
In High School, Troy began writing, directing and acting in plays and skits and organizing and hosting fashion and talent shows. Comedy, acting, and music quickly became Troy’s focus. In 1996 Troy and two friends from his church formed the Hip-Hop group Radical Prayze. Though the group was initially formed to encourage the youth in the city of Baltimore, their success and influence grew quickly. This success led them to their own radio show. The radio show became the highest Arbitron rated show in their time slot and opened the door for major hosting opportunities.
In 2001 Troy formed Ghost Host Entertainment, a promotions, marketing and entertainment company. Through Ghost Host Entertainment, he not only produced shows and events but helped people promote themselves and their businesses. In 2003 Troy formed the Baltimore Jazz Review Project, an entertaining but educational concert series. “My hometown, Baltimore, gets a bad rap in the media, even on television and in movies. I wanted to show the world the beautiful heritage of Baltimore. I believe that what you do in life has a lot to do with not only your environment but the history of the city you’re born in. After much study and research I realized from literary arts, to sports, to music Baltimore has a rich history which if revealed to the masses could help people find their destiny in life. Frederick Douglas, Edgar Alan Poe, Babe Ruth, Eubie Blake, Cab Callaway, and Billie Holiday were all Baltimore natives. And that’s just to name a few great people.†Troy explains The Baltimore Jazz Review concert featured Jazz great Ruby Glover, renowned vocalist Phil Perry, and the soulful Regina Belle.
Troy also went on to form the Wednesday Night Live Comedy Series. This helped to showcase some of the best comics from the Baltimore/ Washington DC area. Giving opportunities to up and coming comics who never had a chance to perform in major comedy clubs. This is where Troy built his following as one of the hottest comics in the business and the comics he worked with started calling him “Ghost Hostâ€.Troy has performed and worked with some of the greatest entertainers of all time. From music artists like Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and Tye Tribbett to the O’Jays, Vesta Wiliams, New Edition, Ginuwine, Mint Condition, Tamia, Joe, and Brian McKnight. And new artists like Mario, Dwele and Raheem DeVaughn. From comedians and actors like Angel Salazar, Jim Florentine, Chris Thomas, Tony Woods, John Witherspoon, Reynaldo Rey, Earthquake, and Don D.C. Curry to newcomers like Mike Brooks, Deny Live, and Stacey Carver. In 2006 Troy recorded his first LIVE Comedy DVD. This project was part 1 of a recorded trilogy called “See Throughâ€. The name “See Through†came after Troy read Richard Pryor’s autobiography “Pryor Convictions and Other Life Sentencesâ€.
“Richard was totally transparent as an artist.†Says Troy “He went through the progression all of us go through but the Richard that became the Greatest Comic of All Time was real. As an artist, I believe, my goal is to be so real that people feel like they know me. Totally transparent, see through. When people can connect to me then they can receive me on a much deeper level.â€In 2007 Troy started “Taboo Talk LIVE†– a talk show and conversational forum on sex, love, relationships and everything in between- with Best-selling Author YONDER. The Taboo Talk Live Internet Radio Shoe was a 4 hour broadcast on www.im4radio.com every Saturday night. Taboo Talk Live Reality TV Talk Show is currently in the works.
His pet project “IT’S NOT A GAME†is a Comedy and Music Variety Show, based on relationships. Troy will record his 2nd comedy DVD/CD in 2008. For Troy “Ghost Host†Rawlings it’s just the beginning…stay tuned!
