About Me

..
..
Hello fellow MySpacers!
I'm an artist, a painter, a thinker, a poet, a romantic, a visionary. I see the world through odd eyes. Sympathetic, lusty, sweet, beautiful, dreamy eyes. I am usually kind, tender hearted, and pretty childish. I sometimes get lost in thought and forget the world around me is still there.
One of my biggest goals in (or beyond) this life is to have my art live forever in the world. . . not simply enjoyed by family and friends, but for many generations to come.
I came to NY from Arkansas. A world away... maybe more. I earned my Master's Degree in Fine Art in the spring of 2005. It proved to be one of the most difficult tasks I could have dreamed of. Being an artist (a real one) is hard work.
Some think it's a lot of "play" time, but there are so many decisions to make, hoops to jump through, walls to wreck into, and mountains to climb. . . Even if you are lucky enough to get to the top, you are still tormented by your own instinct and desire to create. There is no stopping place. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As for what I want from sharing my art with all of you... well, simply put, I hope you enjoy the work. I hope it can add at least a touch of beauty to your day. :)

My Interests

..
..

What interests me? Nature is a big one. Being in nature is so profound at times. I pay close attention to it. The color of the grass, the kind of trees, the pinks on the horizon, the sounds of life. I Love art and being with other artists. There is always something important to discuss and examine. I absolutely LOVE MUSIC!! I like music to be poetic and sweet... I like it to be strong and powerful. I Love animals too. I have the best dog in the world... DUGAN!! :) I love being surrounded by friends, being in my studio.... Music Blasting and paint flying! :) I love art openings, road trips, Saturday afternoons, Christmas Eve, warm sunny days, my Momma's chocolate pudding, my Daddy's rebuilt hot rods, my paint covered overalls, my messy studio, my beat up car, my camera, meeting new people, hugs, lots of kisses, and Sunday Brunch.

I'd like to meet:

I like to meet people from all walks of life. . .

Music:

List them all?! Fine.. I'll drop a few names...

TORI, Ani, Ryan Adams, Patty Griffin, Jann Arden, Melissa Ferrick, ANOUK, Dave Matthews, Nelly, Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Akon, Rusted Root, Allison Krauss, Brian McKnight, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Usher, Allison Krauss, Nickle Creek, Nora Jones, Wycleff, Bill Withers, T-Pain, Lauren Hill, Sheryl Crowe, John Mayer, Rick Price, Portoise Head, Ella Fitzgerald, Blackeyed Peas, Marvin Gaye, PUSSYcat Dolls, Maroon 5, Missy Elliott, Ja Rule, Eva Cassidy, JOE, Mazzy Starr, Wild Strawberries, SIRSY & ERIN HARKES!! I LOVE MUSIC!!! I fall away in good lyrics and a good beat. . . Just about any and everything you can throw at me...... :) I have a passion for all sorts of music.

Movies:

Big Fish, Grumpy Old Men, Anne of Green Gables, A Christmas Story, Tootsie, Lean on Me, Gone with the Wind, A Bug's Life, Goonies, Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast, & Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... come to mind .... basically Anything Disney.. (otherwise) Anything unpredictable, but not too visually disturbing... (I'm sort of chicken).. :)

Television:

Okay, I do enjoy the TV... But I do have my standards... I love to learn and I have a fascination with nature. . I record all the news stuff... Nightline, 20/20, and most recently, March of the Penguins.... which makes me giggle, feel empathy and watch in wonder. I do enjoy the morning news, Oprah, almost anything educational, comical, and The L Word. ......BETTE (YUM).

Books:

I'm proud to say that I am no longer the lazy reader I used to be! Oprah has me all fired up about her most recent book choices. I read Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and World Without End and now I am on to A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I'm even signed up for the class she and Eckhart are teaching on the web. I had a hard time getting through the first part of the book, but now it's coming together... I totally suggest you grab a copy. :) And major kudos to Oprah for getting me and so many more reading again!!!

Heroes:

There is one Big one for me... Vincent.
You all know who I'm talking about. :)
Poor, beautiful, tormented soul...
Wish I could've hung out with him.
Another is Tori Amos. Ahhhh, I met her in below zero weather in Feburary, 2003. I was one of about 30 others that waited for her that day.. (normally 500+) She came late, BUT very warm and hugged me. She kissed me on the cheek and called me "Angel." She is a hero of mine because she has no fear. . Or at least she shows none. She says what's on her mind. Forgetting about the rules.. She expresses herself fearlessly ... If it offends, comforts, or anything in between, she's happy to have given her audience something.. I love her brutal and eloquent honesty. Another is Frida Kahlo...
What a colorful life she led.
Something tells me we would've
been really "BAD" together.
My parents,
my friends,
artists,
musicians,
Anyone who really follows their bliss in this life.
