I have 126 action figures... WHY??

About Me

I'm a writer, nonprofit executive, and sometime comedy magician. While many aspire to write "The Great American Novel" I am trying to produce "The Pretty Good American Novel".I'm happily married, straight and looking for contacts, friends, and others masochistic enough to attempt to publish their fiction these days.

My Interests

Writing; reading; playing trumpet (jazz); magic (sleight of hand, comedy); Renaissance Faires; old houses; stained glass; long hikes; people watching; evenings at home; evenings hanging with friends; NERD Bowling; random drives and day trips; readings at libraries or bookstores; historical swords - no guns; watching older scary movies - Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, huge collection of action figures; working on my kids' science & social studies projects - now that they're nearly grown WHAT WILL I DO?!

I'd like to meet:

New friends, old friends, writers, comedians, magicians, and people with a love for life.

Music:

Classical, alternative and some jazz. Guster, Manhattan Transfer, Dresden Dolls, Dave Matthews, Bond, Medieval Babes, NightWish, and Amy Lee... [sigh].

Movies:

LOTR;The Princess Bride; Army of Darkness; Little Women; Pride & Prejudice (really!); For the Love of the Game; Requiem for a Dream; The Sixth Sense; House of Sand and Fog; and most older (pre 1975) horror movies.

Television:

I don't watch television... isn't that what writers are supposed to say? Okay, a watch a little. I like Life, The Closer, and broadcasts of various comedians. I used to like Battlestar Gallactia but even admitting that makes most women roll their eyes.

Books:

Amanda Ward's How to Be Lost and Sleep Toward Heaven, Steve Martin's Born Standing Up, The Zombie Survival Guide by Maz Brooks, most of Clive Barker's work, Ray Bradbury, William F. Nolan (Logan's Run!),H.P.Lovecraft, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Heroes:

My wife Linda, my parents, and anyone who continues writing and/or performing before live audiences, no matter what other people think, and work until they find their true voice. Oh yeah- getting published is nice, too.

The Cuccaro - A Brief, But Epic Poem

(In honor of Dr. Elio Cuccaro, Professor of Homiletics) "Speak to the people," said the Cuccaro.  And although I felt unworthy I did speak unto them. In my heart my words sang out over the land...
