BACKGROUND
Cano (Lakota/Spanish) is a powerful vocalist and high-energy performer whose
lyrics and showmanship have been described as dynamic, uplifting and positive -Music with
a message. He is continuously performing and is currently promoting a self-produced four-song
EP entitled, Human - his first solo project. Cano is recording and writing music
with plans for a full-length release in the near future.
The past seven years, Cano has devoted his time as front man to the internationally
known, Native American group Clan/destine. He is now aiming to bridge the distance between
traditional Native sound by mixing in a rock/pop sound to reach a broader crossover audience.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Cano introduced a contemporary influence to the group's traditional flair creating
a perfect balance of new with the old. This change helped earn Cano and the band
a 2000 Native American Music Award (NAMMY) in the Best Pop/Rock category for
the group's
self-produced second album of three full-length recordings. Clan/destine signed
with Canyon Records based in Phoenix, Arizona, for the first release. The group
then chose to self-produce and release the next two recordings independently
on their own label,
Rezdawgs Inc.
With Clan/destine, Cano traveled throughout the United States, Germany,
Australia, and the United Kingdom, performing a variety of venues including festivals,
corporate shows and theaters. A few of these include Coca-Cola, LTU Airlines and
The Producer's Guild of America. They were the featured entertainment for the Ralph
Lauren 2002 Spring Line Fashion Show, and they've performed for two Presidents; President
Clinton's visit to Arizona, and one of President Bush's Inaugural Balls.
