About Me

The Last Love Letter by Amanda Easton is the raw, provocative and humbling story of a heartbreaking relationship involving a young African-American couple that begins with a one-night stand. The central lesson in the book is about unrequited love and letting go of the ones we’ve loved with grace and gratitude, no matter what happened in the relationship. The Last Love Letter documents a journey about finding peace, and at the end of the day, it’s just a very relatable and human story about sex, love, expectations, truth and forgiveness. The genre for the book is romantic drama. The Last Love Letter is a short story, written in first-person and almost entirely in verse, as it's intended to be a "spoken letter" from the writer to an ex-lover. The book drips with raw, unbridled emotion. The book's influences include the epistolary novel, African-American oral tradition of storytelling, the lyrics of songs, and the way most people speak in their everyday lives. The Last Love Letter can be placed in a contemporary African-American cultural context alongside other art forms such as "spoken word." The author, Amanda Easton, specializes in writing conversational and confessional-style prose and prose poetry about intimate relationships and highly personal topics. Amanda Easton is currently employed as a human resources investigator. Her primary function involves interviewing people and transcribing their statements. Through that experience, she has gained a unique understanding of how people actually speak. During the course of her job, Amanda has discovered that most people don't speak in grammatically correct sentences. People speak in short phrases; short phrases punctuated by tone and emotion. The Last Love Letter is a story about unrequited love and closure that's told using short phrases, punctuated by tone and emotion. Though the book doesn't employ much rhyme, the book "flows" and has a definite "rhythm" to it. The book was originally published by PublishAmerica and was released on November 19, 2007. However, the book will be re-published and re-released tentatively in late Fall of 2008. The first version of the book will be available for purchase for a limited time from Dirty Laundry Ink on www.Amazon.com. Visit the book's official website, www.thelastloveletter.com, to learn more about Amanda Easton.
