About Me

Check out the new Legend of Zelda trailer I scored (written and directed by Sam Balcomb ), which debuted at IGN.com and receiving 2 million hits in 2 days.
More stats: It was on the front page of Myspace, it was the Number-3 Digg story in the world, the trailer is being ranked as the "best April fools joke ever" by videogame press, "Rainfall Films" (the prod. company) was the 17th-most Googled term in the world, AND the trailer hit VARIETY .
Composer Stuart Balcomb works for film and TV in Los Angeles. Before moving to LA he studied vibes with Gary Burton and taught composition and arranging at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1974-78; he has written arrangements for Woody Herman, Cher, Donald O’Connor, Andy Williams, Magician David Avadon, Gary Burton and the Buffalo Philharmonic, and composed for Batman: The Animated Series (Fox network), The Moses Code , and The Black Door , which won Outstanding Achievement at the Elevate Film Festival.
He also scored The Ore , a pilot for the Sci-Fi channel; five films for the Elevate Film Festival; 3 hours of music for Peter Sterios’ yoga DVD Gravity and Grace ; and Deeper , director Mikki Willis' submission for Steven Spielberg's FOX series ON THE LOT, co-produced by Mark Burnett. His soundtrack for the documentary 1000 Journals premiered at the 2007 AFI Film Festival, Los Angeles, and also at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival.
Currents projects include Disney's Brian O'Brian and Mythic Journeys.
Orchestrations: Underdog, Miss Congeniality 2, Surviving Christmas, Connie and Carla, Gods and Generals, Shanghai Knights, The I Inside, FearDotCom, Triple X (xXx), The Touch, Virginia’s Run, Corky Romano, Return To Me, Star Kid, Michael Jackson: HIStory on Film - Vol.II, Blank Check, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Captain Ron, Sleep Walkers, Hudson Hawk, The Prince and the Pauper, and upcoming The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Gravity & Grace Yoga Master Peter Sterios writes: "From the beginning of this project, it was clear to me that those involved in putting together my first yoga DVD all shared one vision: to create from a space of inspiration. From the outset, the cinematography, choreography, editing, authoring, and finally with the composing of original music which you will find on this CD, every aspect reflected that commitment made by all the artists. Stuart Balcomb's music is the icing on an already amazing cake that brought all the pieces together seamlessly. This music is perfect for creating the 'acoustic space' for yoga, for massage, for meditation, and for any activity where music and sound can invoke the power to transform."
Balcomb writes: "This is a new kind of yoga soundtrack. I took an approach entirely different from what has traditionally been done. After seeing the elegant footage, I knew I needed to 'sculpt' the music to enhance the movements instead of simply writing tunes that would merely function as background music. Peter and I spent two days meticulously spotting the footage to determine different changes in energy levels and movements for almost every frame of film. This is something normally done for a feature-length film, not yoga videos. It then took 5-1/2 weeks of solid composing, recording, and mixing to create three hours of music for the DVD."
By the way, Joanne Warfield designed the CD package, and she should be up for an award. It is exquisite! Click on PICS to see CD art.
Produced by Conscious Enlightenment and Transcendent Sound, the Gravity & Grace soundtrack, containing over two-and-a-half hours of music, is now available at Manduka.com or it can be downloaded at Omstream (click on logo):
