About Me

Alabaster Theatre - Progressive Rock - Wellington, New Zealand

Alabaster Theatre is a troupe of musicians that play Rock Music. We have been playing different things for quite a while now, and we all enjoy it. The music is a reflection of the times and we hope you like it. We play around the country, and have released a number of recordings, the most substantial of which is a new one called Cathode Skies. You can grab a copy at any of our shows or check out Real Groovy in Wellington.

We would be very pleased if you came to see us, or listened to some of our music here, and please feel free to leave your feedback or thoughts on life.

Yours Sincerely,

Alabaster Theatre

PS You may also purchase our new CD via pay pal and we will send it to you, just leave your address.

Sounds Like: Alabaster Theatre has a distinctive sound mixing the heavier end of 70's prog-rock and folk with a smattering of more modern forms of new age and melodic noise. You will hear complicated chords and scales, intricate drumming with an emphasis on driving beats, ambient sound-scapes and melodic bass lines. Comparisons have been made to Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Mars Volta, Muse, Opeth, Pelican, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Rush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Yes, and The Cure, if they were pirates.
