About Me

I was born in 1983 in Budapest, capital of Hungary. I started to play the guitar as a child. I was an autodidact until the age of 12, when I started to study classical guitar at the Music School of the 12th Discrict. My tutors were Szilvia Gyelmis and Istvan Gyori. I was fascinated by the chance of freedom in jazz music, so I went on to study jazz from Gabor Juhasz, whose suggestive playing made me committed to jazz music eventually. After finishing secondary school, I went to the Music Art School of Kobanya. I spent two years there, and learned a lot from Ferenc Tornóczky. My first jazz band was formed in those days with Adam Bornemissza on bass and Bendeguz Varga on durms. In 2004 I got admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Music Art University, where my guitar teachers are Gyula Babos and Sandor Horanyi. In 2007 I won scholarship to Oslo, to the Norwegian Academy Of Music. My teachers here: Hakon Storm, and Staffan William Olson.Nowadays I play with my own trio, Attila Gálfi on drums and Márton Eged on bass. Occasionally, I also play with other bands in many different generes (jazz/pop/rock/afro).
