About Me

The James Dean Trio - Getting Scary - 2003 - The Record Machine Kansas City, Missouri's James Dean Trio is dark, brooding, loud and merciless with their take on grindcore meets free jazz and hardcore. "Getting Scary" is absolutely brutally mesmorizing! With every track, The James Dean Trio (which actually comprises five people) grooves your whole body with their heavily melodic overtones of pulverizing drum beat, crushing guitar fury, and intense screaming. While I often find it difficult to really get into albums that approach the grindcore/screamo sound, The James Dean Trio are something of an exception. While the core of what the band delivers is heavy and savage, there are moments within each track and even through parts of the entire album that are more soulful. The extreme sonic assult on your auditory membrane is great, but when the band can mix things up and allow the jazzy part of their creativity shine through, I fell deeper into this album. The James Dean Trio certainly isn't for everybody, but for fans of the Dillenger Escape Plan, you will find "Getting Scary" a fantastic addition to your collection of extreme free-form hardcore. The album has eleven tracks, of which only seven are actually the band displaying their work, the remainder are clever sound breaks to allow you to breath and accept the fact that you are getting molested by incredibly talented musicians. -MG KunkHussies.com ------AIM-TheJamesDeanTrio------
