Music:
I love music, all types! When I was a child, my mother use to take me to the symphony as her date, while Dad stayed home with my younger brothers. The house was always filled with music; Mom cleaned the house to broadway show tunes like Oklahoma or film scores from movies like Gone with the Wind. Mom was trained as a concert pianist, so I grew up listening to her play. She had me take piano lessons and I secretly took violin lessons in 6th grade. The secret was out when a note was sent home to my mom requesting that she rent me a violin. Instead of renting one, she bought me one, which changed my folly into a 3 year sentence of Orchestra class until I reached high school! And when I lived away from Jacksonville, one weekend I traveled with friends to the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. While sitting under the stars, next to the St Johns River listening to Harry Connick, Jr., I realized how much I loved my home town and at that moment decided to move back. Music can have a profound effect on one's soul, taking you back to another time, enhancing a moment or changing one's outlook! Some favorites?
Barbra Streisand, Joshua Payne, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Paul McCartney, Beatles (All Time Favorite Group), Van Morrison, Bette Midler, Joss Stone, Celinda Pink, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, to name a few!
