About Me

R ock and roll band country & Irish influenced, Clipper continues what Arroyo started.
I actually renewed the band and its targets in December 2006; Clipper focuses on
songwriting and its own sound, which is closer to rock and roll than before, still remaining
on the folk and country field.
Although it's been through many changes rock and roll comes from folk, country and blues,
just listen to Hank Williams and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Our sound hosts European and American tradition, like an old clipper ship.

MAKE MY DAY
new cd from CLIPPER

It's hard to put your finger on the style of this band, which is exactly what makes them special. Self-proclaimed as a band influenced by rock-n-roll, American country and Irish folk music, Clipper blends them all to make a unique hybrid sound.
If that's not diverse enough, consider that the band is based in Italy!

What comes through most in their sound is an unabashed passion for the music. This is evident in their new CD Make My Day.

The first track is a straight ahead rocker called 'The Mean Singer' that has lead vocalist Lorenzo Romagnoli delving into the world of The Clash.
The second half of the song has the entire band spreading it's wings in an explosive rock chorus. The fantastic "It's Raining On Me" is a nice waltz with a fat drum sound that makes one think "is this John Lennon?", "is this The Pogues?" no folks, it's Clipper. From the country song "Doom" to the Beatles-reminiscent "You", there's not a song on this CD that isn't toe-tapping, sing-along fun!

The band itself includes Lorenzo on vocals and guitar, Davide on guitar and mandolin, Tony on bass and piano, and Simone on drums and backing vocals.

There's an interesting instrumental called "Spean Bridge" which shows off the talents of each of these musicians, including a fine harmonica piece from Davide.

The band included their take of the Celtic classic "The Leaving Of Liverpool" to sort of tie together their whole style. The origins of American country music is, of course, rooted in Irish folk music. What this band does is bridge all of that together in it's own special way.
It's what this band is all about, hence the name - CLIPPER
(Tom, artistsilove.com).
