NOISE AMBIENT NoiseAmbient makes available the music of Phillip B. Klingler, aka PBK. The NoiseAmbient site was begun with the goal of providing better access to his music. This is the catalog site for PBK and a number of items are available including some rare imports and out-of-print releases.
For 20+ years PBK has been active in the experimental music underground. His music has been documented on over 35 full-length releases and countless compilation albums. He has collaborated with many experimental musicians and composers from around the globe. His wide range of collaborative works, including co-productions with Japanese poet, Kei Kunihiro; Belgian ambient composer, Vidna Obmana; German sound-experimentalist, Asmus Tietchens; Athan Maroulis, lead singer for industrial band Spahn Ranch(and brother of American Idol contestant, Constantine Maroulis); Jarboe, formerly of Swans; and many others have received great critical notice and allowed PBK's work to be heard by an ever-widening audience.
PBK has performed numerous concerts over the years and shared the stage with many respected musicians. Highlights include the Experiences Festival in Paris, France in 1996 with Schimpflucche Gruppe, Con Demek and Toy Bizarre and also the 2004 U.S. tour with Japan's Govt. Alpha. His concerts in the Detroit area since the late 90's have put him on the same stage as Kazumoto Endo, Kid606, Lesser, Wolf Eyes, Emil Beaulieau, Hive Mind and many others.
In 2006, as celebration of his 20th-year anniversary, PBK's early music was compiled and remastered in digital for the first time on two retrospective cd releases: "Retro"(4-CD box, Waystyx, Russia) and "A Noise Supreme"(CD-R, XDEY, USA). These illuminating documents explore PBK's soundwork from a prolific period of the late 80's when he was deeply involved in the international cassette underground.
2007 begins with exciting news of PBK collaborations with Telepherique, Govt. Alpha, and Anla Courtis(of Reynols). A co-production with Brent Gutzeit of TV Pow is already finished and soon to be released on Mike Shiflet's GMBY label in Japan. Also in the works: a PBK solo cd on Waystyx, an all-turntable release for net-label Radical Matters(Italy) and, with any luck, the long-delayed "Under My Breath" on Electroshock(Russia).
For those interested in hearing PBK's music please check out the catalog link . Some of the works there are out-of-print and haven't been widely available in years. The catalog is Paypal-ready for your convenience. Free tracks for download may be found here and here .

CURRENT RELEASES
PBK - RETRO 4CD BOXSET~Waystyx Records, Russia~
Massive retrospective featuring Die Brucke & Asesino, two remastered noise classics from 1988, a third disc of early PBK ambient music compiled & remastered by Vidna Obmana, and a fourth "anti-music" disc which lists credits and other info. An instant collector's item! Available from Waystyx Records .
REVIEWS: "This material is very diverse in form, sometimes calm and hypnotic, sometimes aggressive noise collage and complete models of abstract audio artistry. The infinite labyrinths of dischord and the amorphous sonic sculptures which are turned into the compound circuits of machine improvisation and random processes - all this is capable of turning the heads of the new listener to uncommon musical sensations. Epochal release on the Moscow label, Waystyx..."

PBK & ADAM MOKAN - SPLIT CD
~Cohort Records, USA~
Limited edition cd-r with beautiful hand-painted cover from Cohort Records. PBK and Adam Mokan(8-Bit Porno) provide exclusive solo tracks for this split release. A fascinating glimpse into the old and new schools of noise music! Available from Cohort Records .
REVIEWS: "On this split release... four lengthy pieces of what I could call PBK trademark sound. Using found sound, mainly old vinyl, a bunch of analogue synthesizers and sound effects, he creates his music. For me it works best in the very chilly, ambient piece 'Event Lurking Pristine', whereas the other three pieces are more chaotic, densely layered patterns of vinyl skipping and effect hunting."
"The entire spectrum of audio unpredictability is analyzed in PBK's soundscapes; reminiscent of his past glories in the post-industrial area, but also a highly skilled hypnotizer (don't forget his collaboration with Vidna Obmana), Klingler juxtaposes the scary and the (sort of) sweet in metaphysical potions where one feels like continuously spinning with a hole in the center of the body, flesh constantly ripped by a needle."
