About Me

I'm Nickie from Belgium. I work full time as a school administrator (used to be a teacher for years, but got tired with all the stuff not connected to teaching). Next to that, I love to write. I have been making up stories since I was a kid, and have by now written five novels. They are a difficult genre to describe, though. They're a mixture between adventure, action, suspense and romance, plus they're always situated in past centuries. You can perhaps compare them a bit with famous stories like that of The Three Musketeers or The Scarlet Pimpernel. Those were the stories I read when I was young (first time I read The Three Musketeers was in French, from my grandfather's library) and which had a big influence on me. I always thought: but I can write such a story too! For the rest: I'm single, live together with my sister (we almost never quarrel) and love to travel. Most of the time, we visit the USA. So that's me!Also, I'd like to make clear that I'm not here to find a new relationship. Sorry for the guys who mail me, but I don't answer such mails. I'm just here for networking and am quite happy as I am.And don't forget: visit my website at www.nickiefleming.com

My Interests

Travelling, music, horseback riding, skiing, knitting, fine food and wine, ...

I'd like to meet:

People who also love to write, read, travel. And of course, other writers, publishers, agents.

Music:

Love most genres, but am not so fond of jazz. Just browse my friends, and then you'll see whose music I like.

Movies:

Films with a good story and good acting (unfortunately, they don't make too many of them!)

Television:

Lots of programs on BBC (like Silent Witness, Casualty, Robin Hood, Sense and Sensibility, ....) or from ITV (Midsomer Murders, Morse, Frost). Also like to watch Medium, Shark, Grey's Anatomy.

Books:

Too much too mention! Let me suffice by saying I read most of the time thrillers and adventure.

Heroes:

Dirk Pitt! I once met him (or at least his look-alike) and we fell in love, but then fate intervened...

My Blog

2-day heatwave

And that's even too much for me! No, I'm not a girl who likes and flourishes in hot weather (temperatures around 30 ° C).  I would not want to live in a country where you get these temperatues da...

End of the school year

For the students of our school, today was the last day of school. They received their report and/or diploma. Many were happy, but of course there were some tears from those who hadn't done so well. It...

In for some hot weather

And of course I'm still working!!! From the past weekend onward, the weather changed for the better and our days are warm and sunny. A bit too warm and too sunny to be sitting in an office with almost...

Did some nice work today

Today, at last, we could start the work we still have before us: giving all the hardwood in the garden a new shine, and painting the walls of the house in white. As it had rained up to yesterday, we s...

Sick as a dog

I'm still not much up to anything, folks. I've been sick all through the night, sprinting from my bed to the bathroom in the hope of getting there in time. Next to that, I have stomach cramps and my b...

Wrappin up some business

After the tiresome Saturday at the office, I was more than glad to enjoy a quiet day at home on Sunday. Better still, the weather changed for the better, and the sun came out. It allowed us to have su...

What a day!

I'm feeling pretty tired, after a full day of meeting up with my boss, to discuss the finances of the school. We had to sort out of couple of things, and best be it that nobody could hear what we were...
