It has been six years since JORMUNDGARD started to participate in the Metal-Underground in western Germany. Far from limiting themselves to a single category, JORMUNDGARD create their own unique style with influences from all kinds of extreme Metal .. a style that satisfies the listener either live as well as recorded: Brutal vocals, razor-sharp riffing and raging drums define the sound of JORMUNDGARD. This includes blastbeat-sequences, murderous grooves and breakdown-parts as well as melodious elements.
2003 JORMUNDGARD were especially honoured: The band was able to tribute their local fellows Blind Guardian with an interpretation of their song ..Follow the Blind.. on the first official Blind Guardian tribute sampler (released by TPL Records, Sweden). In the same year the band..s first demo ..Ragna Rock.., containing 11 songs and 50 minutes of thrashing, but melodious Metal, was released. Recordings took place in KMI studios, while both mix and production were done by the band itself.
Two years later the second JORMUNDGARD demo is released at last. Now presenting a larger amount of Death Metal material, the seven new songs still sound like genuine JORMUNDGARD! This time the recording was done in their own rehearsal place. A mastering done by Markus Schmiedel .. sound engineer and the band..s comrade .. supplied JORMUNDGARD with the sound.
With this new material and commitment to play music, the quintet prepares to rock stages worldwide. Fans were given opportunity to witness JORMUNDGARD..s skills on stage at many events with bands like Belphegor, Suidakra, Nocte Obducta, Goat of Mendes, Blood Red Angel, Jack Slater and World Downfall. Often enough the guys from Krefeld were able to melt down the moshpit and to get the masses banging. Even the press agreed on that. When offering the trip and a place to stay, everyone is welcome to get his very own JORMUNDGARD live-experience.
After six busy and successful years of underground work and a lot of lineup changes the five musicians still agree on this one fact: This has just been the beginning! Await the storm..
