About Me

...was raised near Melbourne, Australia on great grandfathers large sheep station then on mother’s Arabian Horse Stud. Outdoors. Lots of sunburn. Lots of solitude. Studied classical singing and the electronic organ. I liked the foot pedal and waving all my limbs around and singing at the same time. I was writing songs already when I was 8. I wrote songs on horseback. That was my thing. Songwriting and singing. My mentor told me to travel & live. ‘Life Experience is the greatest teacher'. After a stint at arts college and as a journalist I headed to Europe. With just a guitar and $500. Singing in the streets I was 'discovered'. (Many times 'discovered' I have been). I got a lead part in a musical which packed houses in Rome for well over a year before we toured to more packed houses. I saw amazing places. Met amazing faces. I was moved. Then I did other shows and recorded. Then made art on the pavements & sang some more. Did some telly. Moved to Japan. Started a couple of rock bands. Made some money. Sang some more. Went solo. Went on telly (some more). Got a residency at a converted funeral parlour in Sydney. Filled it with love and attitude and people. Pushed the envelope. Sang some more. Got a deal with Warner. Pushed the envelope. Moved to LA. Went mad. Lost the envelope. Moved to New York. Opened a new envelope. Keep moving and opening envelopes (and being 'discovered'). 098 MAX SHARAM DOWNLOAD MAX's MUSIC from iTUNES!

a girl called max

Captivating, Eccentric, Powerful, Eclectic. The first 21st Century diva. Her voice is utterly captivating. She conjures coloratura, she purloins punk, her voice liquefies love and emulsifies emotion... “Sharam has Factor X in such abundance that you can forgive her almost anything”
(London Observer)
‘Her sound and style are just so different. She weaves theatrics and drama into bittersweet tunes of love and life. Her music is stunning – if not schizophrenic in scope and ambition, bold in execution and deliriously individual. Pop hooks, beautiful orchestrations, lovingly crafted poetic pieces – the depth and ease of Max’s musical range hold you spellbound. Hers is a delectable musical journey’
(Vogue Magazine)
“…Seemingly possessed by the soul of a punk rock heavenly angel and capability to evoke theatrics of Shakespearean magnitude with just a slight vocal inflection, Australian Max Sharam unravels fairy tales & lovelorn melodrama in her music”
(LA Weekly)
“Max is an award-winning artist of tremendous talent, one of the rising stars of the music and comedy world…” (Dir. George Miller, Mad Max, Babe etc.)
“Her voice is utterly captivating. She conjures coloratura, she purloins punk, her voice liquefies love and emulsifies emotion…”
