About Me

For those of you who don't know, my name is Kameya. I play alto and soprano sax among many other instruments. I've had 2 semesters working with protools and have built a studio with gig money with a mac and protools, (from scratch, walls and everything). I'm 19 and a sophmore at Liberty University... My 3rd college so far... :(. I live in Philly but share an apartment out here in Lynchburg, VA for school. Now if you ask me these same questions, i can ignore it... lol. because i get tired of answering the same questions. I'm a music performance/education major. i draw, play, and write... I love the arts. I love Philly. I make freinds really easily. I love to have fun. I'm very into my Christianity. I love God, Jesus Christ. And yes, it was my choice to go to a Christian College, twice... I love talking so send me a message... especially musicians for networking. By the way, a little of a resume for you: I've opened for Yolanda Adams, Jingleball, and numerous other concerts. I have also performed with War, Stanley Clarke, and Billy Jolly. I was sent to Hawaii to play, Arkansas, paid to play and stay at Marriot Courtyard in Philadelphia. I currently have two requests for playing the entire summer for pay, one in Tennessee, and the other in California. I've played hundreds of paying gigs, made several auditions, and have done many original songs. I love showing up places, taking my sax out, and just jamming with good musicians, whoever they may be, which is one reason I get so many opportunities. Most people when they see me on the sax, think about how they never see female saxophonists that actually have talent and how I am an exception. Instead of that, I want to been known as a great musician one day without the "young female" portion in there. I'm working on my goal and am looking forward to performing with more great musicians out there. Music and God is my life.You can purchase my music here hopefully soon...

Influences: Grover Washington, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Dave Brubeck, Dizzy, Stan Getz, WAYNE SHORTER, Joshua Redman, Sonny Rollins, and lot's of talent in Philly. Sadly, if it weren't for Kenny G I never would've started. There are plenty of other greats out there. Mainly the people of the jazz era. I'm definitely not biased for sax players, lol.
Sounds Like: Mix between, Grover Washington, Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley with hip hop, jazzy but smooth feel. Kinda raspy but smooth on alto, but still easy to listen to. I tend to change p styles often. All good music is good music to me.
