Maalbass,, Music Productions, Inc. is a music company based primarily on bass players and the bass as an instrument. Maalbass,, is considered a brand of a unique bass sound. This simply means that we are geared to providing a solid bass result that will add substance to a music composition every time. We focus on the foundational role of bass playing as well as support strategies and the goal of a bass piece in all music.
Things to Know:Bass is often one of the most over-looked instruments in a musical group. Many audience members have no knowledge of what a bass even is. Despite this fact, bass is probably the most critical instrument in a group being that it provides the “ground†that the rest of the band walks on. A true bassist has to be humble and accept the fact that he/she is not primarily a solo instrumentalist when playing in the context of a band. I put it like this, if your pocket has a hole in it, you can’t hold no groove! You can’t hold no groove, if you ain’t got no pocket! It is very critical that the bass player lands on the proper note at the proper time. If this is neglected, the band has lost ground, structure, organization, and the feel (groove) of the music no longer exists. A bassist doing runs up and down the neck and neglecting their post to provide ground simply handcuffs the remainder of the band. The substance of the music as one sound dissipates and is not as effective. As a bass player, we usually have a background (ground) role. It takes a real bassist to appreciate that. It’s good to have the flashy things, tricks, etc…like icing…but you have to have the cake too. Show me a bass player that likes to show boat, and in that same bass player, I will show you a bass player that is all icing and no cake. Without the (foundational knowledge), the icing means nothing. How much icing can you really eat with no cake? It’s kind of sickening if you think about it. (literally and musically!)
