Combining the “sixties pop of the Kinks with the art rock of David Bowie to create a refreshing pop sound with rock grit†(Austin Music Magazine), the band has gained a loyal following and earned a stellar reputation for both its originality and its raucous live shows.Tammany Hall Machine includes singer-pianist Joel Mullins, guitarist Geoff Dupree, bassist Drew Emmons, drummer Jonathan Kollar, and multi-instrumentalist Nick Warrenchuk, who switches between trombone, guitar, and organ, depending on what the song needs. The band released its self-titled debut album in December 2004, and the record received rave reviews from a variety of local and national publications. In 2006, Tammany Hall Machine was recognized by readers of the Austin Chronicle as one of the best new bands in Austin, and in April of that year, they toured the Midwest, playing a series of highly-successful shows, including an appearance at the International Pop Overthrow Festival in Chicago, Illinois. In the 2006-2007 Austin Music Awards, Tammany Hall Machine was voted the 10th Best Rock Band and 9th Best Indie Band in Austin, and both Nick Warrenchuk and Jonathan Kollar received honors for their instrumental ability.Tammany Hall Machine's second album, Amateur Saw, was recorded by ex-Halley drummer Scott Oliphant and was mixed by Erik Wofford. The album was released on January 26, 2007.In early 2008, THM opened for The Bangles, played their second SXSW, and were again recognized in the Austin Music Awards. Tammany Hall Machine disbanded right after SXSW so the members could move on to other projects.Several members of THM, including singer-songwriter Joel Mullins, are now playing together in a new band called The Deaf Ears .=========
