About Me

upcoming show!
soulful melodies meet catchy vintage rock in the music of Blueblood. The Chicago quartet makes thoughtful, yet urgent, artful songs, moving smoothly between brash, tense numbers and introspective narratives. Members, Mark, Quinn, Thom and Shaun Paul all share a love of blue-eyed soul, british rock, percussive flourishes and proper attire. Blueblood recently released their debut e.p., “Have Mercy”, a record that showcases the members’ rich musical taste, yet hints at the band’s next steps into the future.
some bands blueblood have played with:
fleet foxes (sub pop), The Most Serene republic (arts & crafts), ladyfinger ne (saddle creek records), Euphone (jade Tree records, RecordLabel), The Willowz (Dim Mak records), catfish haven (secretly canadian), Psychic Ills (the social registry), The Go (Cass Records), Forget Cassettes (one little indian), Ferocious Eagle (54'40 or Fight! records), Cartright, The Woggles (Chicken ranch/ telstar records), City on Film (grand theft autumn), The Countdown (Invisible records), wax fang, eli *paperboy* reed, sybris (absolutely kosher) red eyed legends (File 13/GSL records), Citay (dead oceans), Lucero (east/west, liberty & lament), drug rug, black diamond heavies (Alive records), blitzen trapper (sub pop) and chicago's own tom schraeder.

Opinions:
"The Chicago-based rockers skip the awkward intro stage of music-making and rip off five tracks with a fresh-yet-classic sound. In fact, the opening “Whiskey & Wine” might be the best indie rock song most people will hear all year." - Matt Torman, 10-Second Review, go.rrstar.com
"The band has enough of a sleek signature style to stand out from other post-punk dabblers. What connects this disparate lot of songs is a heavy infusion of soul." - Mark Guarino, Daily Herald
"Soulful garage ensemble plays grizzled, punked up rock, crafting songs that are, by turns, energetic and oblique." - Empty Bottle
"Although Chicago's music scene is impossibly large, I'm still surprised when I catch a fantastic local act that I had never even heard of. Such was the case when Chicago's Blueblood opened the night with a 45-minute set of soul-infused post-punk. On stage, vocalist M. Quinn Des Enfants is a southern preacher testifying to his audience with all of the prerequisite drama. His vocals are expressive, his pipes strong, and despite a few microphone stand histrionics during the band's finale, he never oversells the performance. Inventive drumming from brother Thom Des Enfants, and whining guitar leads from Mark Bachara highlight the tension of the band's compositions. Generally I disdain any opening act that plays over a half hour, but Blueblood had me hooked"
-sid sowder, toomuchrock.com
"The first band of the night was a Chicago outfit called Blueblood, which was a pleasant surprise. Vigorous singing, strong rhythms and (you guessed it) post-punk angularities."
