STEVE WRIGHT BIOGRAPHY...................................................
...Born in Liverpool 1952, started playing accordion at the age of four and when he was seven years old, Steve graduated to his first guitar, cocktail sticks for frets, fishing line for strings and pickup made from an old mic. At the age of nine, his Dad bought him his first acoustic guitar from Frank Hessys in Liverpool. As seven string guitars were the same price as six,
his Dad thought it was a bargain…. Scouse logic!
Steve joined his first band aged fourteen and by the time he was sixteen, he was playing in The Chris Carma Road Show supporting Motown Artists, Charlie & Inez Fox, The Crystals etc.
In 1970 Steve joined Pepperbox and toured Scandinavia and Germany and by the time he was twenty one, had started doing Sessions in various Studios across the Country. Throughout 1970’s he worked with a great variety of people from Detroit Emeralds to supporting Johnny Guitar Watson. Steve was in the resident band at The Cavern Club, Liverpool playing heavy rock with The Klubbs/Wardog for 18 months supporting all the major bands at the time. In the late 70’s Steve put together a funk band Faster Faster playing at many of the Clubs on the London circuit, The Marquee, The Nashville Rooms, Dingwalls etc.
In 1980's Steve was writing and producing Commercials for T.V. and Radio Barratt Homes, Peter Pan and Mattell Toys to name but a few. He also produced an Album "Soundwaves" creating all electronic versions of "Star Wars", "Close Encounters", "Chariots Of Fire" and various other film themes.
In 1981 Steve joined the Big Band at The Grafton in Liverpool where he gained a lot of experience and a great insight into Big Band arrangements.
In 1982 he wrote the theme for Brookside and not long after joined Mersey Television as In House Composer and continued to write and produce all music featured in the programme and any related Videos and DVDs until it finished in 2003. Three one hour parallel dramas of the programme Damon & Debbie were made in 1987 which Steve composed and produced the theme and underscoring together with the release of a single "Talk To Me" featuring Dani Ali and Annabel Lamb.
In 1986 Steve Produced and co wrote 5 tracks on the Grange Hill Album with Phil Redmond. Then in 1989 Steve also co wrote the Grange Hill Musical again with Phil Redmond. The Musical was a Bill Kenwright Production for The Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. Also in that year Steve wrote the theme and underscoring for Waterfront Beat which was a major Police drama series for the BBC.
In the early 90's Steve composed the music for Science Fiction a drama sereis for Yorkshire Television, And The Beat Goes On a series set in the 1960's for C4 and in 1994 the official Ian Rush Testimonial Video.
In 1996 he composed the Hollyoaks theme and incidental music and continues to be Head of Music for Lime Pictures part of the All 3 Media Group looking after their projects on a daily basis.
In 2004 Steve composed the theme and underscoring for the legal drama series The Courtroom for C4.
Along with Studio work Steve has continued with his live work including until recently 2 Charity Shows a year with the cast of Brookside and Hollyoaks acting as Musical Director fronting a twelve piece band.
Steve is fortunate to be able to work from home in his fully Digital Studio with ISDN Link which enables him to send music direct to anywhere in the Country.
The Blues Gang is Steve’s current live project and after a successful appearance in 2006, the Band made a welcome return to Pacific Road on the 8th November headlining at The International Guitar Festival Of Great Britain 2007........................................................

I have been involved in live music both professionally and as a hobby most of my life, I started out as a ‘Roadie’ with local bands in Liverpool and progressed to some famous and infamous world renowned artists. Much of the time I was a Sound Engineer but spent many years as a Guitar Technician which in the early days just involved keeping them clean and making minor repairs, string changes etc. today’s techs are far more skilled and often can play as well if not better than some of the people they work for ! Because I was around instruments a lot I picked up a lot of what I know watching some of the top players who have become friends and heroes, people like Pino Palladino, the late great John Entwistle both of whom I got to know personally and even got to play there instruments, not as well as them of course.
I didn’t really play that much till well into my 30’s and now find myself in a band with some of my oldest ( sorry guy’s) and closest friends, I have known Steve & Phil for more than 30 years and at some point have assisted both with their equipment. Looking after other musicians still gives me a buzz but playing in this band is by far the best musical experience so far and believe me when you have worked with acts as varied as Slade, Paul Young , Adam & The Ants as well as tours with The Who, The Stray Cats, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles and many more you see a fair bit of ‘Life’
So here I am at the age of 55 surrounded by great musicians and wonderful people enjoying what we all feel is a fantastic band, come and see The Blues Gang. BR, Al..........................................................

.....PAUL BELL BIOGRAPHY ............................................................
....
After going through the obligatory piano lessons as a child Paul joined his first band Blue Moon at the age of 14. Being the youngest member by some 7 years he gained vital experience playing with his older peers.
Paul moved to the Wirral and having got rid of his Vox Continental in favor of a Rhodes 88 (after much saving) he joined Wallasey based band Tampico a Latin Funk/Soul Band. Tampico went through many transitions and name changes and eventually Sidewalk was born, a vehicle designed to earn a living for its seven members (and it did, just!) Playing all the usual suspects, Air Force Bases, Holiday Camps, Social Clubs, Pubs and Prisons etc. from residences to the far flung corners of Europe.
Having survived the Cabaret Circuit and Paul’s musical integrity exhausted, there was only one thing for it, an original Band Transfusion Jazz/Funk Fusion. Unfortunately this was short lived as Paul’s writing partner, best friend and truly remarkable guitarist Dave Noble was tragically killed in a car crash at the tender age of 21.
The next twenty years were taken up with Paul’s Music Shop ‘Fusion Music’ based in Birkenhead. After 10 of these years Paul joined Liverpool Band North West One and later Herbie Pops Out.
After a three year period of being half of the Comedy Duo So and So Paul teamed up with close friend and writing partner Mark Lacey and wrote a Musical adaptation of the James Cagney Classic ‘Angels with Dirty Faces.’
In 2004 Paul had the privilege of being invited to Rimini, Italy to do some recording with August Darnell (Kid Creole) and later in 2005 had the pleasure of playing keyboard with the full band in Santiago.
Paul is now having a ball with the guys known as The Blues Gang........................................................

....PHIL CHITTICK BIOGRAPHY...................................................
...............A short musical history. My first paying gigs were working in social club residencies before moving on to groups. In 1968 I got a gig with a country style cabaret band and did a tour of American bases in Greece and Turkey. Later that year I joined Bernie Wenton’s Buzz Band, other members include Albi Donnelley and Paul Pilnik.
In 1969 I joined a band called Sin-Bad led by Paddy Chambers and featuring Beryl Marsden with Pete Newton on bass. Paddy was a great musician and taught me a lot. The bands music was a mixture of Motown and Blue Note jazz.
In 1970 I briefly joined the Merseybeats (for the first of several stints throughout the seventies), later joining the Hideaways; Ozzie Yue, Chris Finley and Frankie Connor, and heading off to Hamburg, and later in the year a memorable residency at the PN Hithouse in Munich (luncheon in Muncheon!!).
In the early seventies I did a year with the resident band at the Grafton which was led by Johnny Hilton, a gig that really helped my sight-reading.
73/74 marked my first time with Supercharge and playing double drums with Dave Irving. Another memorable experience, and the music wasn't bad either! I left Supercharge to go cruising in the Caribbean playing in a dance band. After three months it was on to the QE2 and more sailing. The rest of the seventies was either the Merseybeats or local bands. 77/78 got a band together with Ozzie Yue, John Hodson and Andy Hughes called Joker (name suggested by Brian Farrell). A good little grooving band for its time.
The beginning of the eighties more cabaret with the Fourmost (ugh!) and another stint with Supercharge, this time not so memorable. A couple of years teaching (music workshops etc.), a year with Kenny Parry and Billy Kinsley in Cheats/Liverpool Express. A year teaching at Crawford Arts Centre (with Dave Dover) and finally joining the Cy Tucker band in 1987 and staying for 20 years.
I also opened a drum shop in Liverpool (with a partner) in 1988 which ran until 1999.
I like most types of music so long as it’s good. Favourite drummer/musician Buddy Rich first and then a very long list starting with Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie Colaiuta, Ringo, etc.etc. Frank Sinatra is my favourite singer and the Beatles my favourite group. Apart from drums I play enough piano to write, play and record my own music.
