At the age of nine, his Dad bought him his first acoustic guitar from Frank Hessys in Liverpool. As seven string guitars were the same price as six, his Dad thought it was a bargain…. Scouse logic!Steve joined his first band aged fourteen and by the time he was sixteen, he was playing in The Chris Carma Road Show supporting Motown Artists, Charlie & Inez Fox, The Crystals etc.In 1970 Steve joined Pepperbox and toured Scandinavia and Germany and by the time he was twenty one, had started doing Sessions in various Studios across the Country. Throughout 1970’s he worked with a great variety of people from Detroit Emeralds to supporting Johnny Guitar Watson. Steve was in the resident band at The Cavern Club, Liverpool playing heavy rock with The Klubbs/Wardog for 18 months supporting all the major bands at the time. In the late 70’s Steve put together a funk band Faster Faster playing at many of the Clubs on the London circuit, The Marquee, The Nashville Rooms, Dingwalls etc.In 1980’s Steve was writing and producing Commercials for T.V. and Radio Barratt Homes, Peter Pan and Mattel Toys to name but a few. He also produced an Album “Soundwaves” creating all electronic versions of “Star Wars”, “Close Encounters”, “Chariots Of Fire” and various other film themes. In 1981 Steve joined the Big Band at The Grafton in Liverpool where he gained a lot of experience and a great insight into Big Band arrangements. In 1982 he wrote the theme for Brookside and not long after joined Mersey Television as In House Composer and continued to write and produce all music featured in the programme and any related Videos and DVDs until it finished in 2003. Three one hour parallel dramas of the programme Damon & Debbie were made in 1987 which Steve composed and produced the theme and underscoring together with the release of a single “Talk To Me” featuring Dani Ali and Annabel Lamb.In 1986 Steve Produced and co wrote 5 tracks on The Grange Hill Album with Phil Redmond. Then in 1989 Steve also co wrote The Grange Hill Musical again with Phil Redmond. The Musical was a Bill Kenwright Production for The Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. Also in that year Steve wrote the theme and underscoring for Waterfront Beat which was a major Police drama series for the BBC.In the early 90’s Steve composed the music for Science Fiction a drama series for Yorkshire Television, And The Beat Goes On a series set in the 1960’s for C4 and in 1994 the official Ian Rush Testimonial Video. In 1996 he composed the Hollyoaks theme and incidental music and continues to be Head of Music for Lime Pictures part of the All 3 Media Group looking after their projects on a daily basis. In 2004 Steve composed the theme and underscoring for the legal drama series The Courtroom for C4.Along with Studio work Steve has continued with his live work including until recently 2 Charity Shows a year with the cast of Brookside and Hollyoaks acting as Musical Director fronting a twelve piece band.Steve is fortunate to be able to work from home in his fully Digital Studio with ISDN Link which enables him to send music direct to anywhere in the Country. The Blues Gang is Steve’s current live project and after a successful appearance in 2006, the Band made a welcome return to Pacific Road on the 8th November headlining at The International Guitar Festival Of Great Britain 2007.Influences Musicians: Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, B.B.
