I spend my time between teaching Music, songwriting and work as a pianist. I was born and raised in Kifissia, a suburb of Athens. I started my first Piano lessons in 1987 with the Greek pianist Dora Bakopoulou, and continued my studies with the Austrian pianist Max Hallecker, in 1995. Under his guidance I received the "Recital Certificate in Pianoforte" - Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London (1997), as well as the Piano Diploma with Grade unanimously Excellent (2001). In 2001 I had the chance to work with choreographer Maria Hors for the ’National Theatre School Of Drama’. In 2004 I was awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours: Jazz, Popular & Commercial Music (Newcastle - UK). During 2001-2004 I attended Master classes by musicians such as Sting, Bill Frissell and Paul Rutherford. I was taught Jazz Piano from scratch with Gerry Richardson (Hammond organ virtuose & Sting’s colleague and mentor since the 70’s).
I began working as a part-time Lecturer (Musical Director) at courses of Newcastle College such as Popular Music,Music Theatre and Drama Studies (2003-2004). I’ve been working as a Tutor in Modern Theory, Jazz Harmony, Piano, at FILIPPOS NAKAS Music School, since 2006. These days I’m gigging with singer Zoe Papadopoulou so, i’d be happy to find you @ one of our live shows.
