About Me

The Greek tenor Christos Stassinopoulos was born in Athens.
He studied acting at the Drama Schools of Piraeus Association and Eugenia Hatzikou.
He made his debut as an actor with the “Seventh Theatre”, director Korais Damatis’ theatre company. He also joined other groups and participated in various TV and radio productions.
He started his vocal studies at the Greek National Conservatory with Georgia Georgilopoulou, continued in Stockholm with Ulla Blom and completed in Athens, at the Hellenic Conservatory, with Pavlos Raptis. He graduated in 1994 summa cum laude, being also awarded a Distinction Prize.
He also studied advanced music theory and harmony at the Hellenic Conservatory with Irene Archavli, graduating with distinction in 1996.
He studied oratorio, lied and chamber music interpretation, attending classes by Paul Schilawsky, an eminent pedagogue of the Mozarteum Music Academy.
He has given recitals and participated in concerts in Greece (Athens Festival events at the Mansion of the Duchess of Plaisance, “Parnassos” Concert Hall, “Athenaeum” International Cultural Centre, Athens Municipality Cultural Centre, the German Church in Athens “Christus Kirche”, Patmos Municipality Cultural Centre, “Apollo” Theatre in Syros etc) and Sweden (in Stockholm: the Music Museum, the Artists’ Club - Konstnärsklubb, the Solborg Mansion, the Churches of All Saints, St. Paul’s, Eneby; in Västerås: the Art Museum etc).
In 1997 he performed the part of Vizier in Nikos Mamangakis’ “Opera of Shadows”, commissioned and produced by Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall.
He was chosen by the Walt Disney Company to perform the title-part in “Aladdin”, in the dubbed Greek version of the very successful animated film, as well as in its two sequels “The Return of Jaffar” and “Aladdin and the King of Thieves”. He’s been also the Greek voice of “Aladdin” in the long running TV series.
Besides "Aladdin" he performed the parts of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in the dubbed Greek version of Walt Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland”.
Warner Bros chose him to perform the part of Cornelius in the Greek version of the animated film “Thumbelina” and the part of Hubbie in “The Pebble and the Penguin”.
He has participated in the recording of “The Nightingale of the Emperor”, an opera for children composed by Lena Platonos.
Libretto by Giorgos Voloudakis, based on H. C. Andersen’s fairy-tale.
Soloists: Aris Christofellis, Spiros Sakkas, Franghiskos Voutsinos, Savina Yannatou, Giannis Samsiaris, Christos Stassinopoulos.
