i am a sophistafunkified soul-hop drummer in Minneapolis. well, it's hard to attach my favorite styles of drumming to a single genre, so for this page i'll just invent terms like soul-stew hippity, power R&B and jazz-raptastic.
i've been playing since the fifth grade and studied for four years with regional jazz great Phil Hey. i have been fortunate enough to have played hundreds of shows across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Venues such as Famous Dave's, the Cabooze, and the Minnesota State Fair. I've also performed at many outdoor (and indoor) festivals, and have met a lot of terrific people along the way!
recently, i was a part of the group NiteRail, a high-energy, improv-intense, blues-based band that has been put on hiatus to allow us to expand in other directions. i am also part of the Westwood Lutheran Church worship team in St. Louis Park, where i play a couple Sundays a month during the contemporary service (11:10am).
Currently, i'm playing with the band Prior Avenue, a 9+ piece funk band in the Twin Cities. i'm also working as a sub on the drums for whoever needs it. i am very interested in local talent with similar interests.
