How is roller derby played?
A bout (or game) consists of 3 twenty minute periods, which are divided up into 2-minute long jams. During a jam each team has 5 skaters on the track: 1 jammer, 1 pivot, 3 blockers.
Jammers: Star on helmet, score the points.
Pivots: Stripe on helmet, set pace of the pack, last line of defense against jammers.
Blockers: Majority of the pack, stop opposing jammer from getting through.
The jam starts with the pack (pivots and blockers) skating on the referee's single whistle. When the referee blows a double whistle the jammers take off. The jammers fight through the pack while being blocked and hit by the opposing team's blockers. After a jammer's initial pass through the pack, one point is earned for every blocker she passes from the opposing team.

Were OFFICIALLY announcing our inaugural 2008 season!!

More info on how to get tickets will be available closer to bout dates!! All ages are welcome at our bouts and there will be great music, track side "suicide" seating for those of you who want...
