About Me

I work with artists like the Flaming Lips, British Sea Power Star Death and White Dwarfs and Colourmusic. Over the years I've worked with many others like Red Red Meat, John Strohm, W Elliott Smith and others. World's Fair is a company I've started with Kevin Wortis and Amaechi Uzoigwe to help artists have rich, fulfilling careers (and make a living at it). I'm a proud Oklahoman and happy I've kept my business here. Creative Oklahoma has been taking up much of my time as well in the last year. I want to help make Oklahoma a place where creative type personalities (in art, business, science...whatever) can feel like they have a home that nurtures them.

My Interests

Culture, commerce, education, history and how they are interconnected with our lives.

I'd like to meet:

Bunches of dead people: George Harrison, Miles Davis (although I'd be a little afraid of him), Frank Sinatra, Keith Moon, John Lennon, Teddy Roosevelt, Mark Twain, Philip K. Dick, Gurdjieff, T.E. Lawrence, and some living ones: Alan Moore, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Jimmy Carter, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Clive Davis...

Music:

Well, I do love music, and listen to quite a bit... Here's some of my favorite albums of all time:The Flaming Lips: Of course it goes without saying, but this is a band that I've been working with for going on 20 years. I don't want anyone to think I just do it for the business aspects: I feel evangelical about this band - each record they make is better than the one before - so just assume the first 10 or so albums (I've lost track how many there are!) are on the list, so other than the Lips - here we go:Neil Young - After the Goldrush Devo - Are We Not Men Miles Davis - Kind of Blue John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Pete Townshend - Empty Glass, All The Best Cowboys... Pete Townshend & Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix Queen - Live Killers Cheap Trick - S/T, In Colour, Heaven Tonight The Who - Quadrophenia The Beatles - Abbey Road, Sgt. Peppers, Rubber Soul, Revolver The Kinks - Village Green Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling SinisterI'll keep adding to this list! Some Favorite Songs: The Fall - Victoria

Movies:

Annie Hall, Godfather 2, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Brazil, Blade Runner (the original version), Cabin Boy, Casino, Goodfellas, Manhattan, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ed Wood, Planet of the Apes, Kingpin, Full Metal Jacket, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Grease, Hudsucker Proxy, Incredibles, Lawrence of Arabia, Little Big Man, Seven Samurai, Miller's Crossing, Once Upon A Time In America, Rushmore, the Rutles, Spider-man, Star Wars, The Thin Man, Spinal Tap

Television:

Heroes has taken a turn for the better, as has Lost! I will miss Battlestar Galactica until it comes on again in 8 months. TV Shows I've loved over the years - Twin Peaks, the Sopranos, all things Star Trek (especially DS9, the Office (US version is better!), 30 Rock, Futurama, Prisoner, X-Files, Mr. Show. I wish they wouldn't have ended the Andy Richter show.

Books:

Stranger in a Strange Land, Geek Love, Naked Lunch, Wicked, The Tipping Point, Authors: Robert Heinlein, William S. Burroughs, Harry Turtledove, Philip K. Dick, Theodore Roosevelt, Henry Miller, J.G. Ballard, Kurt Vonnegut, Walker Percy, Warren Ellis, Alan Moore, Franz Kafka, David McCullough, Mark Twain, Charles Addams, Brian Vaughan, John Scalzi, Susanna Clark, Roald DahlI just picked up The new Michael Chabon book (haven't started it yet, but very excited about it).Business book wise - I just picked up the Black Swan. I'm about to start it - it looks promising.Michael has convinced me to start reading Peter F. Hamilton and I'm really digging it!

Heroes:

Personal Heroes: Jennifer, Wayne, Michael, Steven, Harrison, Dad, Mom... Other Heroes: Pete Townshend, Elliott Roberts, Neil Young, Lenny Waronker, Carl Jung, John Peel, T.E. Lawrence, Mark Twain, Terry Gilliam, Theodore Roosevelt, Roald Dahl

Slow at adding friends...

I'm sorry if I'm a bit slow about adding bands as friends. I'm listening to everything that I add. So, it takes a bit longer to go through it all...
