The bespectacled funny man and nerd of the crew!
I am a reporter for www.piratepods.com. I interview musicians, artists, activists and fans. Haven't we all wondered what in the world our favorite bands, stand up comics, politicos, or their beloved fans were thinking? What makes them tick? I want you to know! I am part of an independent team of journalists that interviews these lovely, crazy, and insightful folks who have something to say. Don't get us wrong; our material is NOT EVER stolen, bootlegged or pirated.
Our ship is docked at: www.myspace.com/piratepods or please visit www.piratepods.com.
If you are pro war, racist, or homophobic, please don't send me an add request.
I have always loved to listen to what others share and I am so glad to still be here today. As a child, I pretended to be Larry King. At neighborhood and family gatherings, I would interview friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and animals. I am a Southern California native (San Diego and Los Angeles). Bad hair, bad clothes, and dorky! Music, laughter, books and So Cal smog for life. I am an independent journalist, a comic, and a true friend to the end. My view is simple. This world can be so much more when love overcomes the darkest areas of our minds and hearts and we work together! I love and laugh passionately. I give love and laughter a chance and it works. There is no need to outcool or prejudge anyone when we can crack up a little with a heart and truly listen to what others say. Hugs matter and they feel good. I cheated death three times and understand this well. Two of the three were accidents and the last was total stupidity on my part (living dangerously). Something about being close to my own death that many times has marked me and changed me forever. This is a part of me that is not special and it is certainly nothing to brag about. I just feel lucky that I made it out alive and that I understand how precious we all are.
I adapted something that Paloma wrote. I think it says a few things about me:
I drift off into Paloma driving the 1981 plymouth horizon...the one we affectionately called the plymouth kevorkian because if driven with the windows rolled up, the car would fill with exhaust fumes. We used to joke that someday, we would sell it to jack kevorkian, since it would make a great suicide machine. The plymouth kevorkian was not reliable. The only reliable feature it had was its cassette player, which always worked, no matter what. we used to drive, windows rolled down, out to classes at Southwestern College and it seems like every day we had SURFER ROSA in the cassette player. It always helped to get us going in the morning and always brings back a flood of memories of being 20ish years old and having no clue about anything in particular. This record goes on my top 20 records that I can not live without. It is weird and all about incest and nonsense and it is completely fucking brilliant in english and spanish.SURFER ROSA reminds me of the dark little, shit apartment that we lived in at the time. It was around this time, that I was a passenger in the plymouth with THE PIXIES, that we also got acquainted with THE FLAMING LIPS. We used to sit in the dark living room and think, "what weird fucking hippies these guys must be." We grew to love their music in a major way. When we lived in that dark apartment, we got rid of all of our posessions except for a few things, a futon, a table and chairs, the stereo, a dresser, our cassettes (we were just beginning to transition to CDs, so much of our collection was on cassettes and we could not afford to replace them). I don't know why we did, but one day we just wanted to get rid of everything. We considered ourselves socialists and were going to change the world and stick it to the man.I'm not so sure that I can change the world these days...Maybe you will!Today, at the latter half of my 30s, I still love paloma until it hurts, dig life, hang out wih my children, have fun, laugh, sit and tell stories to the people who want to hear them. I interview people who make music and other things that add to our lives' stories!
Drugs of choice: Conscientious free will, free thought, free laughter & tacos!
