As we enter our second century in 2008, the success of our state will depend more than ever on cultivating the powers of creativity and innovation of all Oklahomans. To facilitate the process, a wide coalition of organizations and individuals has come together from all parts of the state to form The Oklahoma Creativity Project. Our purpose is to establish Oklahoma, in its second century, as The State of Creativity.
THE YEAR OF CREATIVITYAn early and primary focus of our initiative will be to designate 2008 as Oklahoma’s “Year of Creativity†through a statewide celebration and international showcase of Oklahoma’s creativity, ingenuity and powers of innovation. An elaborate series of events will take place in both small and large venues across the state and will include – festivals, conferences and symposia, trade shows, gala performances, exhibitions, film and television projects, internet initiatives and entrepreneurial showcases. Our “Year of Creativity†will be promoted nationally and internationally to attract a maximum of attention and visitors to The State of Creativity.
OUR VISIONThe Oklahoma Creativity Project is not a single program but a multifaceted process energized by the ideas of numerous individuals, organizations and communities across the state. It demands significant collaboration within and between the public and private sectors. It depends on multiple sources of funding, the active support of policy makers, and the creative participation of our state’s many cultural communities.
