About Me

"intense, complex lyrics...inventive and diverse" -CSU Collegian
Until We Wake comes from the empty places. The dangerous wastelands where labels pale. Alone in the cracks between genres. Dizzyingly forward thinking and hauntingly familiar, the hard rock tricksters make categorization impossible. With their true roots concealed like a razor in the candy of modern guitar rock, the false comfort of the genre becomes an enticing pull into the band's web of intrigue, as Big Arena Choruses yield and ultimately give way to prog-core, odd metered math metal hijinks, jazz, breakbeats, and more. Oops, sorry. Here's the chorus again. There, there. It's okay. As much at home with the psychotic pummeling on songs like "Hyena" and "Umbilical" as the opium fueled urban nightmare of "Black Water", the band's chamelioline approach to composition and performance has earned them kudos from scenesters and critics alike. On their full length release, "Europa", the band charts new sonic territory, finding the uncomfortable niche between bystander-friendly riff rock/pop and brain-addling hardcore fusion (With half a Sweet-Tart worth of R&B and Drum & Bass thrown in the stew for good measure.) The band sets up shop in the borderlands, and throws rocks at everyone.
The band's relentless tour and promotions schedule (what's an off-date?) has garnered them impressive radio and fan support at home and in the Pacific Northwest. At every show, in every venue, Until We Wake devastates unsuspecting crowds with a raw, honest, explosive stage show that has been called "terrifying" and "jaw dropping...not to be missed" in the western music press. On a meteoric rise out of a blistering Northern Colorado progressive scene that they arguably created, the band plays to packed houses across the west. The last year has seen them headlining and supporting regionally, opening for national heavy hitters including 'Rise Against' , 'A Static Lullaby', 'Roses are Red' , 'Vaux' , 'I am Ghost' , 'Rookie of the Year', and recording at the world famous Blasting Room (ALL, NOFX, Rise Against, The Ataris, Descendents, Open Hand.)
Heavy. Strange. Accessible. Alarming. Until We Wake is making new music. Rock.
From the website: "Until We Wake is pleased to present Europa, our first full length recording. This LP represents a year of growth for a band that set out to write a few good rock tunes and failed, producing instead some of the strangest and most challenging music any of us thought we would ever play. These songs are about loss, habit, politics, broken relationships, winter, isolation, rage, subterranean deities, and cryptolinguistics. We hope you enjoy them." Europa is the ice covered moon of Jupiter. It recieves little light. It has a metal core. Far below its brittle surface, miles deep, there may be life. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Europa LP is available now.
