About Me

What is sex, love & choices?
Sex, Love & Choices is an acclaimed abstinence program designed to educate youth to aspire to the best sexual health. We emphasize abstinence as the only 100 percent effective protection against unwanted pregnancy and diseases. With almost twenty years of experience, Sex, Love & Choices has reached tens of thousands of teens in public, parochial and private schools, rallies, churches and conferences throughout the U.S. Our speakers draw from personal experience and stress the emotional, physical and psychological factors of a relationship and how their decisions regarding sex have affected their lives. Unlike any generation before, today's youth are dealing with consequences from sexual promiscuity that threatens their lives. Using humor and updated factual resources in our presentation, we discuss relevant topics thoroughly. A few of the topics we highlight are STD's, teen pregnancy, drugs and alcohol, building healthy relationships and practical ways of saving sex for marriage.
As a holistic abstinence-until-marriage and leadership development program that meets the California State Education Code requirements, Sex, Love & Choices consists of two separate presentations. First, we speak to the parents. We want to assist them in connecting with their children. Major studies in teen sexuality show that if parents are proactive and communicate their “disapproval of early sexual debut,” teens either postpone first sexual intercourse or remain abstinent until marriage.
Secondly, we speak to the students. We want to help teens understand the social, psychological and emotional gains to be realized by abstaining from sexual activity while teaching them the psychological, and health dangers of sexual activity outside of marriage. Each age is appropriately addressed to retain their innocence. We do are best at keepin' it real with the students to gain their trust and respect. SLC's success rate of changing teen's minds about early sexual activity is as high as 69%, much greater than the 29% national average for abstinence programs.
We also after teen workshops and after school events that focus on character and leadership development. All our assemblies, workshops, and after school events are designed to assist teens in understanding that the delay of the initiation of sexual activity until marriage can significantly improve their life outcomes, financial well being and marital stability.
Is this an abstinence-only program?
No, we are a RISK ELIMINATION PROGRAM. We present preteens, teens, parents, and caregivers with all the options that will promote optimum personal health as well as self sufficiency. All materials and information presented are medically accurate. We discuss the various forms of contraception in light of their effectiveness in preventing teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS as well as the negative psychological, social and economic consequences that can results from engaging in sex outside of marriage.
How does this program correspond to each state's education code?
All public elementary, junior high and senior high school classes that teach sex education and discuss sexual intercourse emphasize that abstinence from sexual intercourse is the only protection that is 100 percent effective against unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and AIDS when transmitted sexually. We provide teens with a holistic skill and character based program that empowers them in building and maintaining healthy relationships, goal setting while enhancing their critical thinking abilities. We directly deal with the “possible emotional, economic and psychological consequences of preadolescent and adolescent sexual intercourse”. We help students understand they have “the power to control personal behavior and achieve their goals and dreams.” We use the concept of abstinence to teach practical methods that will enable them to reject sexual advances and other risky behaviors thus allowing them to focus on what matters most, preparing for their future.
