The Hot Club

About Me

Nottingham’s own Hot Club band play 'Gypsy Jazz' - incorporating the Swing and Bal Musette traditions of Parisienne style Cafe music, and are also exponents of Latin Jazz in the Bossa Nova style, and east european Gypsy Music. Armed with such a wide ranging and versatile reportoire, the Hot Club band are an asset to any venue or function and will instantly create an ambiance. Whether you require background music for your Cafe/Restaurant, or for the listening pleasure of the clientele in your Bar/Club, or for dancing and entertainment of the guests at your Party or Function. The Hot Club is a trio of two Acoustic Guitars and a Double Bass. But for an even fuller sound, the band is also available as a Quartert with the addition of clarinet and saxophone's, to create a bigger sound with more musical flavours. 'The Hot Club' were originally formed in Nottingham in 1996, when guitarist Wayne Jefferies & bassist John Coulson from 'Swing '91', met guitarist, Paul Johnson, and they formed the "Hot Club Trio". With the addition of Matt Palmer on reeds, they became the "Hot Club of Nottingham", and then the briefly as "Swing Club", in 1999/2000 with Lizzy Ramsey, on violin and vocals. Today, the "Hot Club", mostly operates as a trio, but sometimes play as a quartet with Mike Turner on saxophone and clarinet. For bookings/information: Contact Wayne Jefferies via the Hot Cub Website.
