THE BLOODY VICE:
A grind/rock/noise band... born in 1996 even i don't know if the band is still going... tackling social issues in a parody like execution, this band is or was always good fun but high maintenance in every aspect. The full BLOODY VICE back catalogue ('96-'04) will be uploaded soon, plus live tracks and video footage including the mildly amusing "stripper gig" & a live performance of a Michael Bolton song if you remember that one!
Be patient and you will be rewarded with crap grind.

Ok, this is the "LIVE SECTION". Pieces will be added as they become available. Just click on the links or pictures to obtain a download.

A cover of Michael Bolton's "How can we be lovers if we can't be friends" from his Soul Provider album. It also features The Kill by Napalm Death but as we liked to dedicate this song to Rob at Rob's Garage so often we changed the lyrics a little... & one of our tracks off the 7". I think it was executed at the Rock Ape in 2004 or 2003 to a fairly drunken audience. Matt (Hi-Ho) Silver & Nathan McDonald (Noof) join us on back up vocals for the chorus of which they have a false start and are subsequently disciplined hard & swiftly as the song must start again... A few stuff ups but fairly amusing in all. Enjoy.

ps, Michael is not in the band (so everyone stop asking!!) although i'm sure he would like to be.

This is a live performance at the Musical Youth Festival 1998 on Canberra's outskirts.
A very hot n' dusty desolate day, we are suited up and sweating like a mofo'. On a strict time limit we belt out the noise in a very potent & pissed off manner. A huge beer tent was about a 100m away from the stage and with the sound delay our shorter songs we getting them a little confused. They would clap and we would have already started the next song. Shaggaz smashes his guitar at the end of this recording cause he felt like it and Rowan on bass grinds as only he knows how, FAST! An enjoyable experience none the less considering we are all burning up under our threads. Enjoy.
***WARNING*** This recording is raw, exactly like on the day!

DISCOGRAPHY:

- 1996 - 12 Minutes 50 Seconds

11 songs of old school grind with an inherent noise flavour. If you want to hear our humble beginnings this is it people! Lyrics are fairly immature and with our tongue firmly in our cheeks we prepare to grind it out with a ROCK/NOISE edge. At this point we were just a project band of 2 members: Gav McKenzie : guitar and myself on bass, drums & vocals. Written and recorded in a very short perioid of time it remains punchy & to the point. Frustrated that all our other bands were going nowhere we decided to start this project (with a drum machine) that eventually went... nowhere!

- 1997 - 13 Minutes 35 Seconds

A polished & refined improvement on the '96 demo, this is what the VICE is all about!
Fast & furious grind with an eccentric rock/noise influence. 7 songs with one of them being "The.." an utter guitar noise churning experience aimed at depleting your boewls of goo. Guest vocal appearance from Nathan Atkin & Azlan McLennan (underground Melb' artist) on "Bring them Back" & a good recording thanks to Ed Telfer. Gav is playing bass briefly for us live until Rowan Syms steps in on Bass Hammer and Shaggaz (Shane Atkin) joins the band on the axe. Our live shows at this point are very rock/noise prone & interestingly obnoxious in a strangely boring way... also mildly amusing as we are wearing suits and grinding hard, many sweaty moments were had. We also didn't like people in general (which probably includes you) and let them know how we felt every chance we had.

- 2000 - 5 minutes 17 Seconds: SPLIT 7" with CSSO (Japan)

A split 7" with Japan's CSSO (Clotted Symmetrical Sexual Organ) , it resembles a more raw and aggressive sound for the VICE with slightly more melody in the musical content (if that is possible) and a noisey touch is always lurcking underneath. Recorded by myself on a tight budget we squashed out 5 songs with the first song "Fire" smearing the intro from the Jimi Hendirx classic "Fire" & Sascha Dilger doing some back oi's! Back to a 2 piece, we are not playing live at this point as members dwindle. Giorgio of the Spew Records asks us to appear with CSSO for his first label release, thanks mate but you ignoring me after the fact tastes like contempt everyday of the week. Have a nice day!

- 2004 - 13 minutes & some Seconds: UN-RELEASED

Yet to be released as we were dissolving in our own grinding stupor at the time! RSI and other issues slow this recording & its release down real fast. Apart from not being recorded to our liking, this (un)release yields our strongest songs yet (is that good or not?). About 7 songs in total, this is GRING/ROCK/NOISE to the max... Winding solo's on guitar & bass, yell-core chorus's and downright cynicism are all over this one. Sascha Dilger (Dement Ensemble) joins us on vocals to certainly give TBV a dynamic edge. Quite a few gigs were played with the "Stripper" gig, Michael Bolton cover and snail eating gigs the highlights. Soon after Shane (Shaggaz) decides to leave the band shortly after us gaining more momentum as he hates the world and everyone in it, of which i don’t blame him as he is right. The band sleeps.
