Lynda Blair is an alternative rock band from the Baltimore area formed in May of 2007 when members Mark Humphreys and Paul Provanzano met with Jason Blevins. At the time, Paul and Mark were looking for a bass player and Jason was looking for a drummer for his band. Jason and his guitarist met up with Paul and Mark to jam, and a week later, Jason decided to play with them. Lynda Blair began learning and rehearsing cover songs to gig professionally. The band was looking for a second guitarist when they met Anton Tuvelman at a show, who was also looking to join a band. They played a song together at the show and have been together since. Currently the band is concentrating on finalizing the sets that they will be playing and booking for 2008. Read on to find out about each member of the band.
Mark Humphreys started playing guitar 25 years ago, he also learned to sing, play keys, bass, and Ud along the way. Mark minored in music and studied music theory as well as Indian, Turkish, Persian, and Uzbeki musics. He majored in Biochemistry and Molecular biology. He ran and owned Cloud 9 recording studio for 8 years where he produced, engineered, and performed on hundreds of recordings from RnB to death metal. Mark is influenced by classical orchestral music and all types of pop genres. He grew up listening to Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson, Mozart, and started learning guitar to Michael Schenker and George Lynch. He now finds himself listening to Tori Amos, Cure, Seal, STP, Sevendust, and Dream Theater. Mark uses Mesa Boogie and Randall amplifers with Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan pickups in his guitars. He uses Roland, Alesis, Korg, and Emu synths.
Paul Provanzano started playing drums at age 13 in a need of an escape from reality with out drugs. He studied with John Crocken who had a drum shop in Fullerton, MD years ago, studied with John Locke from Peabody Conservatory and John Cole who now plays with Slim Man. John opened a lot of doors for Paul, and he has his thanks. He had the pleasure of playing with Carmine Appice during a drum clinic - Paul can still remember that cool fill. He loves listening to fusion with great drummers such as Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers, among others. Some of Paul's earliest influences were Neil Peart from Rush, Ian Paice from Deep Purple, and Mitch Mitchell from Jimi Hendrix. Later, doors were opened by David Garabaldi from Tower of Power.
Jason Blevins started singing in a high school rock band in 1993 and after two years started handling bass along with lead vocal duties. He has never had formal music lessons or schooling but instead has picked up the understanding of music through other musicians that he has played with in the past. Jason loves to entertain, write music and lyrics, produce, sing, and is now trying his hand in the electronic side of music. Some of Jason's influences include the bands Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction, John Kuhn, Dredg, Lake Trout/Big in Japan, Blind Melon, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tool and many others. Jason uses Warwick basses, Hartke amplification, SWR and Ampeg cabinets.
Anton Tuvelman had his first taste of organized music at the age of nine when he began playing violin. He would continue playing in various orchestras for a decade. At twelve years old, Anton found his father's old acoustic guitar and began teaching himself chords. At fifteen, he joined his first band, playing synth/keyboard. At eighteen, he studied jazz guitar in college and began performing with a jazz ensemble. At twenty one, he began playing with Lynda Blair. Anton enjoys performing, improvising, writing, and recording. He grew up listening to Mozart, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elvis Presley, Queen, and 311. Anton's influences include Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, and Timothy J. Mahoney. Anton uses Seymour Duncan pickups in his Schecter C-1+ with Line-6 effects and Randall amplification.
