The art of being devious includes departing from the most direct or generally accepted way of doing things. Far from restraining himself to the norm, Devious has traveled to many realms in both his musical career and style as well as uniting thousands under the unique spell he casts over a crowd when he spins. Devious’ maneuvering on the deck is an involvement of many different genres that are blended so quickly and fluidly as to create the impression of an entirely new form of music. He weaves a tapestry of sound so unlike anything that has been heard in recent years that it comes as no surprise he has been a staple upon which many events have been organized. Attempting to describe his style doesn’t do the necessary justice; however, it involves a combination of nu-school breaks, funky breaks and a blend of electro-house and hip-hop with the occasional sinister scratch thrown in for good measure. The method to which Devious applies these styles is truly captivating, you’ll be hit with the realization that there is simply nothing else in existence that compares to the sound he puts out. It was his older brothers influence that got him involved with electronic music, old dubbed tapes of Omar Santana, DJ ICEY and Chris Shepards Pirate Radio to name but a few. Through this influence, a style and ideal was born that led to the creation of one of the most progressive and active DJ’s known today. For his love of the music, Devious thrust himself over 10 years ago, flyering and promoting for fellow DJ’s at the age of 17 until he landed his first club gig in Florida at the Tamiami in 1998. Part of this involvement was the promoting work (flyer kid) he did for OM Nightclub, this helped integrate him into Florida’s night-club scene and drove him to aggressively finding his way to the decks. ** bio written by Rory O'Connor **
