Starting at around the age of 10, Nate Howell began paying close attention to the rhythm and drums of any song he could listen to. At that time he couldn't afford a real drum set, so he began practicing on cardboard boxes, various pots and pans, or any other make-shift cymbals...little did he know what was in store for him.At 13 he bought his first drum set. Banging away with drums he fell deeper in love with percussions as a whole.Fast forward a few years to the first time Nate was introduced to electronic music. A friend gave him a CD that he had picked up while in Germany . One listen was all it took, this was the moment when Nate decided to devote his time, energy and love to electronic music. He started listening to anything he could get his hands. His earliest influences were DJs like Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and DJ Micro to name a few. So he bought his first set of tables and a mixer, and realized that this was what he had been looking for.Not long after that, Nate was asked to be a resident for Trance Force Saturdays at Club 658.But as time went on, Nate's influences changed, and it slowly became apparent that house music was his true love. After becoming friends with one of Buffalo's finest DJs and record buyers - Jubei, Nate started on his journey to find the sound that he now embraces. He now has a large vinyl and MP3 collection that range from funky house influences such as Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco, and Gene Farris, to the deep rolling bass lines of dirty tech house and techno from artists like Deadmau5, Alex Celler, Milton Jackson, Radio Slave, and anything in between.
With years of experience rocking dance floors at all the major clubs in Buffalo he continues on a dream that was seen in him at that early age we know of.Nate has opened and closed for numerous DJs, including Klute, DJ Micro, Richard Fearless, and John Selway. Residencies include clubs like: 658, Elmwood Lounge, Space, Smack Thursdays, Off The Wall, Prespa, OPM, and Pearl, and he is now starting his own club night titled "Harbor Life" at Club W.
