About Me
Music was always a part of my life, inspired at an early age from my father. I started out recording songs on the ol' time music reels with my dad and brother at age 3. When I was in the 5th grade, I joined a dancing choir which inspired me to write my own songs, raps, and poems. I tried to create my own following as a publicity stunt to be popular, by performing raps that I wrote at recess.
In Junior High and High School I was very active. I was involved in different choral groups, talent shows, dance classes, musical plays, and was on the cheerleading squad for 4 years (made Varsity my second year and on for both football and basketball). After High School, I and Liya Yohannes started a group in college called "Sista's in Soul". We performed on our campus, other campus', clubs and other functions. Liya moved a year later so I went solo as "MC Poof". I took every opportunity I could rappin on the streets, at clubs, and entering cyphers and contests. From a rap contest at a club, I was able to produce my very first video.
After graduating college in Oregon, I moved to the Bay Area and became a back up dancer/choreographer on a tour with KID FROST, N2Deep, and CISCO the FRISCO MAC. After the summer I started my career as a teacher. I taught for 5 years, coached different dance teams, cheerleading squads, and sports. During the summers I would perform at my dad's bar that he owned, different venues, dance and choreograph other artist's tours, and sing hooks and feature on other artist's albums. Toward the end of my teaching career I owned a go go dance company with my dance partner Nnecka, placed in the finals of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleading Tryouts being in the top 15 of 5 states, modeled in fashion shows, did spokesmodel work for Grey Goose and Jagermeister for 2 years, and began acting in tv and film projects. In fact, a producer dicovered me from a tv show I guest starred on and gave me a position as an ESPN2 Sports Reporter. It was not long before I had realized if I really want to be serious in the world of Entertainment, I need to be in LA.
After I got my master's degree in Sports Management, I made a proposition with God that if he wanted me to be in Entertainment full time he needed to show me a sign and get me laid off from my job. Two weeks later, I received a pink slipped and was laid off and moved to LA.
In LA, I found my way in appearing in 30 tv shows, 4 films, made several demos, recorded over 30 songs, and wrote over 1000 songs! I have since performed at several venues including: opening up for Warren G at the Queen Mary, Barfly, Celebrity Center, Carson Convention Center, Forbidden City, Red Square, and La Salitas. I even wrote and sung the theme song for the National Campaign to Stop the Violence in Washington DC in July of 2004.
Currently, I am working with a variety of producers and am producing my first tv show.
God is GOOD ya'all!
