About Me

(From Harlem and the Bronx. Writer on Comedy Centrals Chocolate News.) Hugh Moore's comedy journey began on the streets of NY where he was raised by his parents, a poor farrier and coppersmith team collectively known as the metallics. At the age of 17, Hugh turned down a blacksmith scholarship to a well known Amish university in the Bronx. This led to Moore's disappointed parents asking him to leave. With nowhere else to turn, he began living with former Batman star Adam West in lower Manhattan. Before the show was cancelled West stole various items from his televisions shows wardrobe thus enabling Moore to borrow them since he didn't have any clothing. While performing on the NY comedy scene Moore, affectionately known as "Catwoman" was an immediate stand out. His low key, deadpan, yet regal demeanor enabled him to perform regularly at the premiere comedy club The Comic Strip. Moore honed his skills at the club nightly and he wrote daily. On a rare night off Moore attended a wrestling match at NY's Madison Square Garden. Known more for his wit and comedic timing than for his sense of direction, Moore inadvertently walked into the wrestlers entrance. Backstage he shared drinks with the Iron Sheik, Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana. Moore was the recipient of a kick to the head when he mistakenly referred to the Mexican Santana as a Puerto Rican. While unconscious, he not only missed the wrestling matches he was also thrown onto the wrestling tour bus because the staff mistook him for a wrestler due to the fact he was dressed like Batman's nemesis The Riddler.Moore regained consciousness on a beach 3000 miles away in sunny -- and for Moore -- itchy California. While on the beach Moore was fortunate enough to save Music/Television producer, Quincy Jones, from drowning. As a form of repaymentJones told Moore he could have anything and Moore requested a date with one of theJones daughters. Jones then kicked him with twice the force that Santana kicked him with. When Moore regained consciousness, he found himself in Quincy's recording studio with pop star Michael Jackson applying an ice pack to his head. Hugh later found out that Jackson wanted to keep him but Jones informed him that he wasn't for sale. While Jones was still upset with Moore he was still kind enough to offer him a job as a writer on his new talk show Vibe.Moore did quite well on the show. He even had one of his monologue jokes quoted in Entertainment Weekly. The show can be seen on Videotape in over 300 countries today. His success on Vibe led to him wearing normal clothing and writing on other shows such as MTV's The Lyricist Lounge Show, Fox's The Best Damn Sports Show Period, MTV's Nick Cannon Presents: Wildnout. The show that entered Moore’s name into the history books for being the lowest paid head writer in the history of television. Moore continues to perform standup all over the country and he currently writes for Comedy Centrals Chocolate News. His goals are to win an Emmy award and kick Tito Santana in the head.
