First off, I'm a professional psychic reader and Witch , and I've got a whole group of really gifted psychic readers working on my new site, Psychics for Hire !
Salem Tarot
My first web site, launched in 1995! Salem Witches' guide to Tarot with free .. Tarot readings, Tarot decks, Tarot postcards, Tarot card history, and live Tarot readers.
Festival of the Dead
Shawn Poirier and I created this annual Halloween event series in Salem, Massachusetts, that explores death’s macabre customs, heretical histories, and strange rituals. Hosted by the foremost authorities on the spirit world, Festival of the Dead beckons guests to step through the veil into a realm where spirits await.
Sorcery of the Sun
This August, join me, Sandra Power, and the Salem Witches for the first harvest as we cast a spell of summer over the city of Salem, honoring the power of light and the wonder of the faeries who walk among us. Dine, dance, divine the future, and delve into spiritual mysteries.
More About Me
How do I describe me? I'm a lot of things: gay man, professional psychic and Witch, event host, singer, genius, scholar, humorist, political gadfly, graphics designer, web developer, author-in-progress, friend, and lover ... if the spirit moves me.
I created Salem's annual Festival of the Dead with fellow Salem Witch (and Witch King—what the heck does that make me???) Shawn Poirier . Shawn and I created the Festival as a means of gathering like-minded people to explore the spectre of death in all his many guises, to confront our own fears of mortality, and to find its deeply spiritual side. Now going into our fourth year, we've introduced Salem to Sexy vampiress Countess Bathoria , "America's favorite Satanist" Joe Netherworld , gothic DJ addambombb , classes where kids learn to contact spirits , and the scintillating Black Cat Burlesque . The only thing sure anymore is that everyone wants to see what we'll do next!
My new summer event series is Sorcery of the Sun , which I run with Salem Witch Sandra Mariah Power, and am co-author with Sandra of Salem Tarot and Salem Witch . Together with Shawn, we're hosting The Pirates and Wenches' Buccaneers' Ball , which promises to be one of our most carousing parties yet!
Of course, while playing the infant terrible, I've managed to eke out really great connections in the business and political communities. I meet with merchants and attraction owners all over town. I'm probably the first Salem Witch ever to have a private audience with the mayor to talk about tourism and marketing. I've worked with over 40 businesses to create the "Ruby Slippers" campaign featured in publications like Boston's gay newspaper Bay Windows, which helped folks to see that I'm not just some freak in a top hat and that both Shawn and I have our fingers on the pulse of what Salem is and can be. We've found allies in folks like published fetish photographer Scott Lanes , whose photos dominate the campaign. Rather than "ditch the Witch" in order to become some uber-generic "cultural destination," I say with as much strength as I can that " There's No Place Like Salem ."
I'm also a professional psychic, working in The Magic Parlor in Salem and on Keen.com . This is something I traded in the corporate digs last year for and haven't looked back. I decided was done working for passive-aggressive assholes and religious bigots. If I can't define my income entirely on my own terms, I'd rather be poor. I was there, many times in life, and I made it through. My wise mom always said a plain meal in peace is better than a banquet in fear. I'm very lucky to have found a banquet that I can really savor. I'm already doing really well between events and readings, and when I do anything now, it's according to my rules.
Of course this path I've chosen makes life complicated as well. While there are always a million friends out there wanting to make your acquaintence for purposes both sincere and not, dating is a lot more difficult. Gay guys, notorious for their cookie cutter dependence on theme don't seem to want to look outside of those boxes. You can be a jock, a bear, a twink, a leather dad, a gym queen, or and A&F prep, but god forbid you stray from those. I've often wondered if the gay subculture is a macrocosmic metaphor for the Village People ... or worse, the Spice Girls! I guess, I'd be Tarot Spice, which is why I chose that for my AIM name! These fags don't seem to understand that Witches are people just like everyone else. We like movies, restaurants, hanging with friends, and trips to tropical islands (St. John USVI pics coming soon!). They want so desperately to be accepted in society but they are often the first not to accept.
But, while it's definitely made the dating scene a little weird these past few years, I wouldn't trade it for the world. All the TV shows, newspapers, and magazines I've been featured in or on, the friends I've met on all ends of the spiritual, social, and political spectrums, and the dearest friends I hold close to my heart have made this incredible journey one I'll never forget. While I'll never be a cookie cutter fag, I'll always strive to be fun, interesting, and diverse. I'm definitely into exploring dating again, but on my own terms. I'll never change who I am for someone who does not have the courage to be themselves. At the end of my life, I want to look back and say "I did that!", not "I fit in!"
