Farouk Gomati

Hi Everybody!!?Welcome to myspace, my name is Farouk Gomati and I’ll try to give a short info of what my musical life has been. I was born Mai 1985 in South America (Barranquilla-Colombia). At the age of 7, I started playing all kinds of Colombian percussion with my first and most important teacher until now, Tomas Teheran. I started my career as a professional musician playing the Latin and world percussion with my own Band Latin Sampling as we came together to Germany to participate in different Jazz festivals after winning the Jugendjazzt festival (2003 in Bonn) From 2003 I joined a lot of Bands, BigBands and Musicals including the Nils Gessinger Band, the German Youth Jazz Orchestra conducted by Peter Herbolzheimer, the “Lion King” Musical in Hamburg (being Disney's youngest musician around the world). Joining those Bands gave me the opportunity to play in many countries (such as Colombia, Spain, Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Lithuania, Ireland, South Africa, Namibia, Denmark, Bulgaria, Albania and Romania) and to play with artists and Bands like Tania Maria, Django Bates, Jack Bruce, Danny Gottlieb, Michael Philip Mossman, Joe Gallardo, Ivan “Melon” Lewis, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Paul Kuhn, HR BigBand in Frankfurt, SWR BigBand in Stuttgart, NDR BigBand in Hamburg and many more.
