About Me

It all started in 1999, when two high school friends were sought out by a drummer to get together and jam some tunes. Ryan Haviland (guitar) and Tom Homeniuk (Bass) had played together in a band throughout high school and had been friends for even longer. Mike Campbell (drums) knew they had played for a few years and finally got them together in the summer of 1999. The three quickly became friends and started writing some material. In the early months of 2000, they decided to invite Matt Hanley (guitar) into the mix. Matt became an instant hit with the guys and he decided to stick around and help write music. An opportunity to add a singer came a short while later when the band met Joel Smith, a friend of Matts. The original performing band was complete. While together these five guys put out a demo cd titled simply Su8cK. At the end of 2000 the band performed their first live show after entering a Battle of the Bands. Su8cK ended up winning the competition. In 2003 the first change for the band would come. With Joel leaving the band, they were on the lookout for a new lead singer. Mike Cole was the singer of a band who frequently opened up shows for Su8cK. The guys took a liking to Mikes vocal style and invited him to sing with the band. Mike was a favourite with the fans that Su8cK had garnered from numerous live shows. They have continued to steadily gain a following in recent months. During the bands time with Mike, they released their first full length cd titled Eight Bucks At The Door. It would be two songs in particular that would catapult them to some international recognition. Breathe and Mexicali Rose were popular with listeners on Mercora Radio based in California. The songs were enjoyed so much that the listeners voted Su8ck as the best band on the network. In November of 2005 Su8cK was awarded the Los Angeles Music Award for Independent Artist of the Year. The band flew to Hollywood to perform at the LA Music Awards show at the famous Henry Fonda Theatre. The show was taped for a national broadcast at a later date. The band was interviewed by the In the Mix show after their performance. This show was a definite favourite highlight and pinnacle of Su8cKs achievements during their 6 years of existence. The latest chapter involves the newest member of the band. Carl Mulligan has been hired as the new singer for Su8cK. The guys are very excited about this move. Carl brings a passion for the bands music as well as his own. He is also a great performer, writer and very excitable on stage. His vocal talent will add new highlights to the bands songs and will play a huge part in their new material. The band then went through an amicable split with guitarist Matt hanely in December 2006. Instead of replacing him, the guys decided to go into the studio as a four member band to lay down some tracks in January 2007. All four members are excited about the future of the band and are looking forward to performing new material for their fans.Su8cK was also featured on Hamiltons best rock Y108s indie show Get Hammered. You can hear the interview as well as song clips and other media on their website. You can check out Su8cK at www.su8ck.com or email them at [email protected] for more information. In a world full of pop princess's and poseurs, it's a rare thing to hear something REAL in music.....When you earn your career on a game show, it's next to impossible to have any kind of heart. Integrity, heart and conviction are earned and SU8CK have all 3 of these qualities....it's in their music, in their shows and in their good-natured sense of humour....God bless them!!! - Andrew Stefani (Hamiltons rock station Y108) Su8cK Website!
