GEEPEE ZAGO

Gee Pee Zago, uomo duro e sicuro di sè, pronto ad ogni evenienza, pianista all' occorrenza, organista per esigenza, batterista per diletto, autista di camper, opinionista ferreo. Su tutti si può dubitare, su Gee Pee Zago no!....Intanto non mi avete ancora portato niente da bere e se volete che continuo a parlarvi di questi personaggi riempite il bicchiere, boys!!! Perfetto ora ci siamo....dicevo???...ah, si' parlavo di Zago, appunto..... In tournee quando la band è completamente distrutta a notte fonda sul bus e l'unico suono che esce è un perfetto accordo di russatori incalliti, Zago è l'unico sveglio e sempre attivo, di lui ci fidiamo ciecamente e dove lo trovate un compagno cosi', neanche il compagno giornalista Balestracci ha mai avuto cosi' coraggio. Suona l' organo Hammond con grinta e partecipazione, non abbandona mai la trincea, non si nasconde in bagno quando fanno l' appello, non dà la colpa agli altri per scagionarsi, ascolta i consigli del produttore e all' arrangiatore quando registra un album di canzoni in studio, ma dico io !!! Un altro uomo cosi' dove lo troviamo? Ha lavorato anche con artisti americani come John Kanady, Billy Goodman, Marthy Hall, Davis Cohen, una super jam con Whinton Marsalis e Joshua Redman. Moltissimi Italiani, Paolo Birro, Oracle King, Renata Tosi, Bruno Marini, Bob Bonisolo, Francesco Bearzati, Silvio Galasso, Oscar Abelli, Paul Boss, Iotti Martin, Massimo "Maska" Ferrari, Beppe Lupo, Lorenzo Frizzera, Marco "Lone Wolf" Gasparini, Dirty Lorenz, Manuel Bonino, Giorgio Peggiani, Guido Perlini, Max Lugli, Cristina Mazza, Carlo Ceriani, Lorenzo Conte, Oscar Zenari, Angelo "Leadbelly" Rossi, Gianni Sabbioni, Giuseppe Zorzella e molti altri ancora.La musica è la sua maledizione non riesce a smettere, o forse non vuole neanche smettere, è la stessa cosa delle sigarette, anche se lui non fuma. Gee Pee Zago è un elemento importante, il sound del suo organo impregna le mura dell'osteria e Jack, proprio perchè gli sà fatica, non le pulisce mai scusandosi che non si riescono a togliere talmente sono appiccicate. Le note di piano volteggiano in aria e cadono sulla band quando Gee Pee Zago muove le sue dita sulla tastiera, a volte cosi' prepotentemente che la musica esplode in un epilogo epico e risolutorio. Martin Iotti___ ************************************************************ ** Gee Pee Zago is a tough, self confident man, ready in any occurrence and good pianist when it takes; he plays Hammond ‘cause it’s needed but drums ‘cause he likes it. He’s allso a great Camper driver but always a steely opinion maker! You can doubt on everybody but Gee Pee Zago!....In the meanwhile anybody here gave me anything to drink and, if you still want to learn more about these people …come on... fill the glass up! Uh, thanks! That’s OK! What were we saying? Ah, yes.. I was talking about Zago, indeed..... When the Band is on Tour and the boys are completely “down and out” and the only clear, crispy and familiar sound you can hear is the “perfect chord” of professional snorers, Zago is the last standing and always active: we trust him blind and we challenge you to find another mate like him! Not even the journalist,musician and pal of ours, Mr. Ballestracci, had such bravery! Zago plays the Hammond organ with so much determination and commitment; he never abandons the “battle field”; he never hides in the bathroom when names are called up; he never points the finger to somebody else to stay clean from guilt; he listens to Producer’s and arranger’s (?)suggestions when the time has come for Studio recording. Music is his curse and he can’t stop or, maybe, he doesn’t want to, just like cigarettes addiction, even if he’s not a smoker! Gee Pee Zago is an important member of the Band; His Hammond’s sound is soaking Pubs and “Osterie” walls so deeply, that Jack, right because of his laziness, never cleans them, begging people’s pardon claiming that wall are so “Music sticky” that’s impossible to cleanse them! Piano notes “literally fly” in the air and fall on the Band when Gee Pee Zago moves his fingers on the keyboard, sometimes with so much power that music explodes with an epic and determining epilogue.
