STRAW

The project Straw came out from the mind of Tony (guitar) in May 2005, as a way to express his own emotions through music.The research for the suitable members starts then, and proceeds until September, when, being impressed by the David’s vocal talent, Tony invites him (current vocals) to join the uprising project.Both turned out as tied by the common passion for the same kinds of music. Therefore, under the rush for starting their own musical activity, the 2 guys bumped in Vin, who owned the abilities to fit the future drummer’s role. The band completes its own line-up, by adding a bassist that will almost immediately give up his position to Ugo. Once the balance is reached , although precarious, the band managed composing a few tracks in time for the studio recording in May 2006, that is their own first self-produced work comprising of 4 tracks: Burned!The work was positively welcomed either by Critics and Public, harvesting good reviews from webzines in Italy and abroad. But the genuine alternative metal, played by the Italian band, mainly impressed the “Stars-and-Stripes”public, always ready and prepared to welcome some excellent and honest rock.Since then, indeed, a true fan base began to take shape, growing day by day. Straw gained an excellent airplay on the American independent radio stations, which started to send more often the tracks played by the band on air, since the multiple requests received from fans. Soon after the Demo was published, the band also began its live activity, bringing its own music on stage.Right during this time, though, differences between Ugo and the band began increasing, therefore the guys were consequently brought to part ways with him. The Sido’s coming on the bass’s position revealed the achievement of a perfect balance, either artistically and on the human level.The first 5 months of 2007 peacefully flow. The guys increase the rehearsal activity and decide to add a fifth member to the line up. The research for a second guitarist, provided with good artistic skills and musical tastes similar to the rest of the combo, finally finds the right solution, in June, in the joining of Anth. During the month of September the band locked oneself in the studio to record the 5 tracks that will be form the first self-produced EP “RISE AND SHINE”During the whole listening of the work, all the elements that compose the sound of the Italian band can be discovered. From the penetrating and powerful vocals by David, to the hard and melodic riffs by Tony, through the compact rhythm section formed by the throbbing bass of Sido and by the frantic drumming of Vin. Due to personal issues, Anth leaves the line up contemporary to the EP launch. Thus, the band is finally a quartet againThese are Straw in 2008, a band that is for sure more mature in comparison to what experimented with the previous work and which hopes, through this new work, to arouse the interest of labels, so that one could get to a contract to record one’s full – length, which is already object of composition.
