The project BLEND71 is a four piece, female fronted band which was born in 2004 in a damp rehearsal room at the foot of the Lake Lugano, Switzerland. Their recipe for success consists of a range of catchy songs, which are – if you listen to them closely – refreshingly complex. The mixture of a merciless wall of guitars, playful drums, groovy bass-licks and – the cherry on the cake – a wicked, colorful female voice, which scares every dedicated listener to death, brings a necessary tension and holds an excessively high potential of addiction. The production of their first Maxi CD was entrusted to two of their good friends, Ste and Jo of Maja (well-known band in the Swiss music scene). For the mastering of the five songs they availed themselves of the experience of Tom Hutten (Foo Fighters, Iggy Pop, Maja etc.) of the Bionicmastering-Study of New York. After the release of their Maxi CD Blend71 on October 2005 under the Swiss label T:d:M Thunderdome, the band realized their first videoclip “Out of my head†produced by Jasmina Von Büren. The video soon aroused considerable interest from the audience and in August 2006 was selected to be part of the Box[ur]shorts Californian Film Festival Fall program. As of September 16, 2006 until the end of December, the film was screened at some Café Lounges of New York City, Los Angeles and Basel (Switzerland). Moreover, during April 2006, and for a period of three months, the video was played on the Roboclip Program of the Swiss Television SF2 Channel and other music private television stations. From the presentation of the Maxi CD, BLEND71 were busy in different live exhibitions and in a mini tour on March and April 2006 that touched several Swiss and international locations. In 2007, besides concerts, BLEND71 busied themselves in the realization of their new LP Signs with Ste Scenini as producer, while the mastering was done again by Tom Hutten. The album Signs (to be released in 2008) consists of numbers inspired by particular concepts. The new work holds melodies and expressiveness drawn from the musicians’ very own emotions, melancholy, delights and sorrows. These transform themselves into overwhelming and exciting resonances, thus creating a well defined Blend71 sound.
