About Me

MyGen Profile Generator 2005-2008
"It’s an extraordinary scene to those who don’t understand but what you have seen you must believe if you can"
Torque Armada was formed over a monster new year’s hangover 04/05, in an attempt to give something meaningful to a dying local "scene". Paul Harmer, Dave Moriaty recruited drummer, Lee Hutchings, after brief spells with other local sticksmen and entered the studios within a month to record New Trend Geek Scene; 4-tracks “stuffed with balls” says METAL HAMMER and who are we to argue?
2006, the group’s first full year, began with yet more recording as the band had set their sights on a UK tour! 6 tracks were laid down and in July, to coincide with the band’s trek across the country, Lollipops & Pills was released and a convoy of Ford Fiestas hit the road! After a hectic summer schedule the three-piece re-entered the studio to begin work on their first full-length release.
Torque Armada received airplay on Channel 4’s Freesports on 4 shows at the beginning of 2007 and picked up rave reviews of their debut album, Users and the Wasted Youth.
Sadly though, as the year drew to close, Paul left the band looking to start a new chapter in his life. Lee is now writing TV sketches and scripts whille Dave is promoting gigs under the name Geek Scene Promotions and plays in the band, Teen Death Squad, on the side.

Sounds Like: "An eruption of angst, anger and raw rock fury, bristling with catchy riffs and anti-social punk attitude"
PANIC MAGAZINE

"Lashings of resentment, pity and bile. It's seeting rock you can dance to, melodies you can hum and hooks you can remember"
NOISY! ZINE

"A rather decent, rather energetic, rather busy punky/grungy/indie-rock three piece of a band. Seeds of ideas and moments that demand attention"
ORGAN MAGAZINE

"Heavy rock with a decent high tempo, everything comes through clearly and manages to get across the sleaziness that these guys ooze"
DEVOLUTION MAGAZINE

“If the Towers Of London were a little more focussed on being wryly satirical and less on being wasted for wasted’s sake (and getting on TV), they might have sounded as promising as this”
METAL HAMMER Magazine

"They have all of the unfocussed aggression of The Sex Pistols, the pithy personal expression of The Buzzcocks, the anarchic stage presence of The Damned, and can make their guitars wail, grunt, bellow and scream like the sound of distilled teenage angst"
PANIC MAGAZINE

"The songs are in yer face, with pleasing shouty vocal and effective arrangements; it's great stuff to let your hair down to. This is a really great proper punk act!"
NEON-PROMOTIONS.CO.UK

"Someone book them or there will be harsh chinese burns handed out to all, with the threat of noggies"
PUNKNEWS.CO.UK

"These Essex heroes’ catchy yet rough, ready and raw tunes might be just the revolt against saccharine So-Cal polished ‘punk’ we need"
