"Ghostwood Shanks are like the bastard sons (& daughter) of J Mascis and Kim Deal." Bitterscene
"One of the most promising bands in Essex. Bubbling with talent." Don Blanford- Essex Chronicle"Lo-fi folk music for the 21st century telling the stories relevant to today's world with a skewed and original sense of humour. Touching, off-beat, and maybe a little bit twisted their Pavementesque sounds could warm the souls of the most jaded rock fans." Panic Magazine
"Ghostwood Shanks show great potential to be a respectable LO-FI indie band" Tom Watsom Beat MotelGhostwood Shanks are a hard working Essex based four, sometimes five piece, who buck the trend from other so called "alternative" acts by delivering truly original and inspired music with influences ranging from Frank Zappa to Pavement and DJ Shadow. Formed in early 2006 the band played their debut gig as a three piece at the Bassment night club in Chelmsford and went on to play venues such as Upstairs at the Garage, before expanding their line up by the end of 2006. The current line up includes members with a wealth of gigging experience from having played in bands such as Black Lodge Cooper, Foot In Mouth and Traffic To Nowhere. During this time the band have played local Essex venues such as the Square in Harlow and the Twist in Colchester as well as London venues such as the Orange in Islington, the Fiddler's Elbow in Camden and the Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green.Ghostwood Shanks are now looking to book future gigs and bring their imaginative stage show which includes robotic badgers and dinosaurs to audiences across the South-east region and encourage everyone to join in on the fun.
