Hi, I'm Greg Stace, I'm a music producer based in Sydney Australia and well, Here's my story..
I started out in 96' in Sydney where I got to work with some of the top producers going around in the 90's.. After progressing from engineer to producer I found myself with an exceptionally talented band call "One Dollar Short", we recorded a single called 'Board Game' which took the band to aria charts number 9 and stayed in the national charts for 11 weeks straight and became a new cult hit among the punk rock music scene..
After touring in Japan the band suggested I work with a band called "Something With Numbers" and I recorded an EP for them which then got signed to Below Par records, they then got me to record a little know band called "In The Grey" which charted number 2 on triple J's net 50 and introduced me to a band called "Lotel", which I recorded their demo for 'Teenager of the year' which went on to an ARIA nomination for "Best New Artist - Single.
Two further successful collaborations between myself & "One Dollar Short" got me a reputation for Rock production with artists like festival records "Nokturnal"," Never Pay Retail"," Second Best" and" Dumbstruck" all recieving local radio service. In late 2004 I found myself again in the Aus Charts with another central Coast pop punk act "Best Kept Secret" with their debut "Another Night", Topping Channel V most requested charts.
I then found myself with a young Sydney band called "Kid Courageous", They immediately signed to Rock Sugar Music and we recorded in Australia's premier studio 301. The first single achieved #1 position at nights and was the 4th most added track to radio in Australia holding the night position for 11 weeks, the video was instantly added to MTV Channel V, Video Hits & Rage. Is She Really Going Out With Him peaked at #25 in the ARIA singles chart and #2 Independent.
The second single, Life's a Movie debuted at #9 in the Aria singles chart also achieving the #1 night position at radio for 10 weeks. Movies was also voted record of the day in the UK.
The 3rd single lifted from their 6 track EP debuted at #4 in the Aria singles chart coming in at #1 in the Independent chart. Radio promotions attracted in excess of 55,000 votes on line with a major competition via Coke Live 05 exceeding 165,000 votes.
I then produced some of the countries best up coming bands - "Fifty Sixx" (now signed to Taper Jean Records) "Bagster" who then won JJJ unearthed, "Van Dieman" who got the largest signing ever out of Tasmania, " Jinn" (number 33 for an independent band !) "Waterview" - again another JJJ unearthed winner, "Amy Merideth" (just look in your General Pants catalogue) "Israel Cannon", "Carravelle" & "Draw The Line" who all received mainstream radio rotation.
In 2008 Newcastle's "Here Come The Birds" have received rave reviews & been added to Triple J rotation, and metal band "Buried In Verona" which has been called "One of The most powerful Australian Productions" to date as well as pop rock band "Violet" being instantly sent to Singapore to perform with the likes of "Harry Connick Jr" at the Mosaic Music festival only weeks after development, all ensuring that 2008 is set to be another great year for local talent and pushing forward Australian bands.
"Here Come The Birds" are from Newcastle Australia, in 8 day's we rewrote, recorded and mixed the EP and now put to JJJ rotation, on the day they submitted it.
"I heard Vijay play this one on air and liked it straight away. The vocals are top notch, the band is equally driving. Bit of the Brit Bloc Party rhythm comes through and a touch of indie US punk. Bring on some more please..."
