Band Members: Selassie I Brothers/Rebel Music consists of two members who happen to be brothers-Karl & Jay a.k.a Dan DREAD.I & STEPPA Dan a.k.a Karl Kaya & Jaycub a.k.a
The Twins/ The Danites and so on and so on. As young boys music played on cassette tapes or Pirate radio stations kept us up late at night and exhausted for school the next morning. Being members of "The Twelve Tribes of Israel" we've grown up surrounded by a wealth of musicians eg.singers/ live bands/ Dj's/Mc's & Jamaican style Sound Systems our whole lives. As most we began as lovers of good music and quickly realised we had a gift for writing rhymes and performing.Then in our teens we became youth members of The Twelve Tribes of Israel Sound in Manchester a.k.a
"Jah Prophecy Muzik" in which we became the resident Dj's from 1993-2000 spinning Reggae, Dancehall, R'n'B, Hip Hop, Soul etc, we played strictly for the love of the music, but we'd also make alot enemies because of all the female attention we recieved,because we would always seem steal the show, not on purpose it just kept happening, we would always give 100% and the peolple loved us for it, but as the saying goes- all good things must come to an end, the reason being we needed more room to grow and explore other sides of our creativity instead of only ever spinning other artists music.We miss Dj-ing but we have no regrets, it's a sacrafice we had to make to move forward plus we gained valuable knowledge, experience and confidence from playing to different types of crowds and watching their reactions to different types of music.
Since 2000 we've been learning about running a small business/ independent label(The Princes Trust).
2003/4 we made several DJ mixtapes which you might be able download for free.
We've also been busy writing rhymes and producing beats from our D.I.Y. home studio "REBEL MUSIC" .
Nobody knows what the future holds but we hope to bring you some great music sometime before "Judgement Day".
