HISTORY
In September of 1998 Rick moved to Birmingham to study Jewellery and Silversmithing at the school of Jewellery in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. As he approached the end of his final year in Birmingham, along with a friend from the jewellery school they decided to start a business together, putting to use some of the skills they had learnt on their course and combining it with the simplicity of building beaded jewellery.
On the 26th of June 2000 Beadesaurus opened in the Oasis Fashion Store, Birmingham. The original aim being to find great beads and jewellery to sell in the shop, alongside the beaded and silver jewellery that they designed and made themselves. Five years ago Rick became sole owner of the business and finally managed to expand the range of items sold.
In April 2006 we opened our second shop in Marple, Stockport. Marple is more a dedicated bead shop, selling a wider range including Swarovski crystal and Venetian glass.
ABOUT
Beadesaurus is now in it's 8th year! You'll still find us on Level 2, just head on in from Corporation Street, go down the stairs and you're there!! It's run by Rick, with a little help from Ruth alongside Helen, Abbie, and occasionally Anna.
After 8 years we can now confidently say that we know our stuff! And as Birmingham's finest alternative accessories store you can expect only the best from us!
Our stock is imported from independent designers and companies all over the world and whatever you're looking for, from necklaces to stickers, bags to body jewellery, if we don't stock it we can most probably get it!
We stock exclusive (to the UK) tattoo inspired jewellery, bags, wallets, hair accessories and even cigarette tins! We also have a large horror collection, kitsch and retro jewellery, gifts, body jewellery, Birmingham's largest selection of plugs & tunnels and not to forget, our namesake, BEADS! Many of our items were originally exclusive to us however as time goes on it's inevitable that others want a piece of our tasty, juicy cake too!
Our items are displayed in a manner befitting them - we don't sell crap so we don't display them like they are!
We traded on ebayfor several years however due to rising fees, the limited stock items we could put on there and awful copies of our items springing up everywhere we decided to leave ebay behind us. In 2007 we finally branched out onto the world wide web by setting up our website !
Many of our stockists ban their items from ebay so if you see them loitering around on there the seller is breaking a legal contract with the supplier so please report them to the manufacturer as they are endangering the intellectual rights of the designs meaning crappy copies will start springing up!
